How do you exercise in public?

Okay, I'm eighteen years old and MAJORLY self conscious. I always feel like everyone is looking at me, especially when I'm exercising. I have tae bo tapes, but that gets old fast. So with the limited resources available to me, it is easy to make up excuses not to exercise. I absolutely HATE exercising outside. I like the experience, but not the paranoia of the stares. How do you get over that?

Another question, anyone looking for a weight loss partner? I really need some kind of support. I've done this by my self before, but I really need some one to hold me accountable. I can be very weak at times. (Family not so supportive, set in their old ways. I come from a long line of overweight people.) Please email me to inquire.

If you worry about what everyone else is thinking, then you'll never do anything.  People look at you when you're at the grocery store, filling up your gas tank, and at the bank - it's a fact of life.

There are a lot of people who won't notice you at all because fat people become invisible in the eyes of many out there.  Some might make fun of you to your face or behind your back.  Others might be inspired by watching you make the attempt.

As long as you fear, you'll never do it, and that becomes a poor excuse.  Throw out the excuse book and JUST DO IT.

I started walking at 195 lbs, and I got honked, screamed, and laughed at, but who's laughing now!  Tongue out

I agree, there should be nothing stopping you from getting yourself healthy. If you continue to go to the gym people will end up staring at you because of how much progress you made. I'm sure you're just being paranoid!  If you continue to feel people stare use it as motivation to work harder! Good luck and don't let others stop you from losing the weight.
