Exercise on a rainy day

Quote  |  Reply

Hello Everyone,

I'm new to this whole weight loss/exercise thing. I am just curious what people do for exercise on a rainy day. I can't afford gym membership as I am only a student and I don't have any home work-out equipment. I was thinking about buying some kind of workout dvd but am not sure which one to try. Any suggestions?

I put on extra layers, and go out for a training ride.

I don't mind the rain except if it's cold. I just wear the proper gear.

I'm partial to The Firm DVDs. I've found several at T.J.Maxx and Ross for under $5., you only need hand weights for the older DVDs but even that is not mandatory. Most importantly... if your committed to your goal, don't let a little rain,( or pour), stop you.

I do all of my exercise indoors and don't belong to a gym - Jillian Michaels Shred video does a great job of burning lots of calories in a short time - according to my heart rate monitor I burn about 300 calories in 20 minutes.  It's nice because it has 3 sessions on it - and you start at number 1 and once you can do that one you bump up to the next level.  I've lost 40 pounds so far by counting calories and exercising at home - good luck!

Out of curiosity, smjohns, what do you do for exercise when it is not a rainy day?

I just started the Jillian Michaels 30 day shred after seeing positive remarks here. It does cardio, strength, and abs in a 20 minute session. So far, I like it. It kicks my butt but I sure do feel good.

I found these 20 minutes exercise videos http://www.women-workout-routines.com/free-wo rkout-routines.html ; they fit me perfect not only in rainy days :)

I normally walk approx 3 k around a local jogging path, I have been searching for a local sports team to join but my schedule is very hectic and not very regular so walking is something I can do anytime (unless of course it's raining). I am very new to this site and dieting so am still trying to find my feet and work out what is best for me. My housemate has a Yoga DVD that I did this morning and that was great! Am going to try and find that Julian Michaels Shred DVD...do they sell it in Aus???
