What should I do for exercise during the school year?
Asked by anonymous on Aug 09, 2008 in Fitness

During the summer, I was able to swim laps, bicycle, and play tennis every day. However, during the school year, I don't think that getting this kind of exercise will be possible, as I am just entering high school with an expectation of a huge workload, training for my Bat-Mitzvah, and seriously pursuing the violin (which means about 2 hours of practice every day). Do you have any suggestions about how I should get enough exercise during the school year to continue losing weight?

Answer

You’ll have to plan for exercise, as well as sneak it in whenever you can.  By exercising at home in the morning instead of at the gym, you can save time commuting and dressing.  You can use exercise equipment, workout videos or do calisthenics. Make a point of using the stairs and walk or ride your bike for transportation.  When you talk with your mom or meet with your friends, you can walk as you talk.  When you need a break from studying, take a walk around the block instead of going for a snack.  Read about exercising when you go back to school from the Guide to Exercise at About.com.
