What Did You Do For Exercise Today
well I got this ideal from texmom (sorry i didn't know you made the post) when she made the forum what did you eat today so here goes a exercise one come on in share with us the exercise that got you sweating it out
I personally recommend working out after, and here's why:
Everything I've read indicates that early evening is when you're body is the most ready for exercise, and early morning is the worst time. Because you are coming off an 8hr fast in the morning. In the evening you have eaten a lot of your food for the day (minus dinner) and your body temp is at it's best. Also you are much less likely to have injuries because you're muscles are warmed-up and limber compared to the stiffness of early morning.
Hope that helps.
How do I find the time to exercise? I schedule it like an appointment for the most part. I work 4 days a week 10 hours a day from 6am to 5pm (hour off for lunch). I've made exercising a priority and I schedule it accordingly.
I get up at 4am so that I can do a half hour tape before work, I've found a yoga class that starts at 6:30, I'm able to get home from work, chill for a half hour and then get to yoga class after.
I seriously considered what I was giving up for Yoga, the answer, TV. I'm ok with that. As far as when should you find the time to exercise, whenever you have the time. You sound crazy busy like me, I"d recommend making time in the morning it's really hard to find something that "comes up" first thing in the morning. The evening may be a better time metabolically but if you can't fit it in at that time, and you miss it every day intentions won't help you lose weight.
Those are some very good points. I am crazy busy, but maybe it's in my best interest to make a schedule of my day so I can be sure to fit time in appropriately. I would LOVE to wake up early in the morning and accomplish working out, but I also know myself well enough to know that when the alarm goes off I may just roll over and hit the snooze button. I think I will try a week of working out in the morning and a week of working out after work and see which I like best and go from there!

How do you all find the time to work out? It is a big priority of mine, but every day I find my list of things to do getting longer and longer until there's no daylight left and I am just completely worn out!
Do you all recommend getting up early and working out before work or trying to find time after?
The irony (and the cliche) is that you really will have more energy when you are more active on a regular basis. When I started out, mowing the front lawn (30 minutes) did me in for the day.
Now, it's not even an issue to mow, go on a hike, and play basketball all in the same day. I still have a lot of weight to lose, but my endurance and cardiovascular health is so much higher than when I started.
Start by adding activities like parking far away from the building, taking the stairs, walking to the mailbox, and so on. One way to spend some time with your child and get some activity is to go on a walk with them. Push them in the stroller around the block or take them to the park.
In terms of when to work out, everyone is different. It isn't so much as when you work out as it that you are working out period. Hardcore trainers may find that it's best to workout at a certain time, or before/after eating certain meals, but if you're reading this group, it doesn't matter for you at all.
What you need to do is find a way to get at least 30 minutes of some activity in your life each day. You''ll have to learn that it isn't optional - you need it to live a healthy life.
I work fulltime and have 2 kids. I drop them off in the morning, pick them up after. Take the oldest to Tae Kwon Do 3 times a week (1-1.25 hours each time, not including travel). Make dinner, do the dishes, do laundry, and so on.
Some of these things my wife and I will swap on, but on any given day I very well could be doing all of them.
I had to realize that it was something that was a requirement. I didn't have to read for 30 minutes before bedtime, or watch the entire movie/recorded tv show, or play video games for 2 hours. But I must get active.
Review your daily schedule and eliminate what you truly don't need and put emphasis on what is important - your kids, your health, school, etc.
I got up early this morning and did a belly dancing video for 25 minutes and then this evening I'll walk for 25-30 mins. :)
i recommend getting up and doing excercise first thing. if i dont do it this way then i get to busy to fit it in. So this morning i got up and wen to the new gym and did 2 miles on the fat burner setting on the treadmil. was supose to work with a trainer to day but they changed trainers wont get to do that til tomorrow.

Cody and Alecto, you guys just wear me out, and that is only reading your posts!
LOL I went back and read it, wears me out too. ![]()
Today is a day with trainer and it is leg night, have no idea what that "Evil" man has in store. Will start with 10 minutes of warm-up on treadmill, but doubt I will be able to do any cardio after 60 minutes with him. However, he is able to keep my heart rate up the entire time and works of the H.I.I.T. program, so I'm sure I'm sure that will be adequate. I was unable to do any conventional excercise yesterday due to meeting family for dinner, but will make sure I get three lifting sessions and three cardio sessions in this week.

For me, it became about deciding I had to make myself a priority. I treat working out the same way I would any other appointment...meaning I'm there on time and ready to go. Be realistic with your workout goals...some days I spend three hours (including travel time) at the gym and others I'm in & out in 30 minutes. If working out in the morning works for you, do it! (I'm not the kind of person that can do that.) Good luck and let us know how it goes javeoman!
When I started working out I was jut working (I don't have a family, by which I mean no kids) so it was easy to schedule it into my life. I just gave up a few hours of tv / internet leisure time. However, I was just on a summer internship in grad school, so after a few months of easy scheduling, I was back at school and had NO TIME. Fortunately I discovered that I had so much extra energy from exercising, that I didn't fall asleep in class anymore when I hadn't gotten enough sleep. I don't necessarily recommend giving up sleep to all...I became quite the coffee addict and probably didn't do as well in my classes as I did first year. So, in short - as little internet and tv as possible, only as much sleep as I needed to get by. Luckily I've graduated now so it's easier. Good luck!
well no work out for me today when I put it in how long I stood up at work today doing light work walking back and forth for 6 hours it says I burned 1700 calories I dont know if I believe this or not I excluded my lunch and 2 breaks so I dont know
I went for a brisk 40 minute walk, and did about 40 minutes on my xl glider. Now I am icing my ankle. ![]()
Did my Curves workout...not the greatest, 622 calories, but better than nothing. I have a goal of 700 calories in my work out but I have not hit it yet.
In fact, I have a question-how long before my work out should I have a snack...I had some cottage doubles at about 4:15 and then some pineapple bites at 4:45 and started my work out at 5:30 and eewwww, i felt ill and tired.
Now I got a good night of sleep last night, so not sure what was up with this, but I did not like it. Perhaps it was just an off day...not sure.
Thank you everyone for your help and inspiring words! My alarm is set for 5am and I am amped and ready to go. I took some time to write out a schedule for myself today and you're all right! Once I took out the leisure and only added the necessity I found myself with plenty of time to work out. I think the groups and forums are very helpful in this journey and I'm looking forward to getting to know you all. Thanks again!
Good evening all you fabulous people. You are every one of you rock stars :).
I am a rock star as well doing both the 1/2 hour "Walk away the Pounds" dvd and going to Yoga.
Yoga goal for the week: 5 classes
Yoga classes down: 3
Tomorrow the plan is the same, Walk away the pounds in the AM Yoga in the PM. My work schedule changes as of Friday, instead of working Monday through Thursday I'm working Tues, Wed, Thurs, and Sat. This kind of sucks because I'm used to having two floating free days where I don't have to go to Yoga if I don't want to, now I'll HAVE to take Saturday as a free day cause I work through all the Saturday classes. So this means only 1 floating free day, oh well. At least I won't have to work Mondays anymore.
So far a mile and half walk at about 4mph. I can't go that fast because I tow a three year old around with me. Then a vigorous 30 minutes of Monster Slide.
Later I hope to sneak in 30 minutes on the elliptical I discovered hid away by the playground. There are three machines in a room the size of my bathroom with a tv. Just a little sign there labeled "For Residents Only." The other gym on site has been closed for months now thanks to vandalizing children. grrrr
I'm also going to overhaul our coat closet in preparation for winter. That should take about half an hour and usually involves major lifting and moving. I expect it'll be a good workout.
I worked out on the treadmill for 35 minutes today. Did a random program at level 6 and varied the speeds from 2.5 to 4.0. Burned 300 Calories! I also did some warm up stretching.
You guys are doing great! Keep up the awesome work!

I have done the gym and workouts for 8 days straight so I decided to take today off.
I will still be under my burn meter by 700 calories.
I can live with that for the day.
I sanded, scrubbed, and painted my garage door.
Expected it to take a couple of hours, but I didn't get the first coat of actual paint done until about 4 hours after I started (broke for lunch in the middle to let the sealer/primer dry for 45 minutes).
Man, I feel like I went through a wringer.
well i did my fat burning workout on the treadmill this morning and some weight training. this evening i had an appointment with the personal trainer to go over my weight training routine and to learn the new machines at the gym i am so sore now. he is great. he is going to body train my husband. total calories 974 for the gym workouts. only ate 1300 calories for today i am doing great to day. Tomorrow i learn the cardio routine of the gym. i am excited if it was anything like today it will be great.
