What Did You Do For Exercise Today
well I got this ideal from texmom (sorry i didn't know you made the post) when she made the forum what did you eat today so here goes a exercise one come on in share with us the exercise that got you sweating it out
I'm a newbie here :) But this looked like a good post to start with. Today is my second day of joining / going to the gym. I've always been scared to work out at the gym and really self-conscious. But I took the plunge. So today I did 20 minutes (1.5 miles) on the tread mill, and 10 minutes on the eliptical. Then I did 30 minutes doing arm weights, and abs. I actually feel really awesome too, just the right amount of sore. I work out after work, sitting infront of a computer for 8 hours- so I feel great after I'm done working out.
My wife and I both took the day off - it was 70 degrees and sunny here.
We went on a hike at the state forest. It was another "difficult" terrain. It started out with a series of switchbacks that worked you to about 100' below the ridgeline. From there, it was straight up the rest of the way (not up, up - but moving in a straightline instead of having to cut back). Walked along the ridge for about a mile, then back down to the valley floor.
Finished with two water crossings and did not get wet. My wife crossed over a fallen log on the big one, but I decided to get creative and go along the opposite bank because I remembered that this part of the trail had a 3rd water crossing as the trail criss-crossed it. I walked along the opposite bank and climbed over the rocks, and under a fallen tree to catch the trail after the 3rd crossing.
Good hike that took an hour and 40 minutes. We then went to lunch at a japanese steakhouse, and I brought back rice, noodles, and vegetables for lunch tomorrow.
Hit Curves today....I slept like **** last night (actually for the last few weeks) and I did not think I would make it through my work out, but I did.
655 calories later, I still have about 100 calories left and I might indulge in a nice tasty Skinny Cow ice cream bar and pray I can sleep.
You and your wife are an inspiration to everyone. Your descriptive way of recounting your walking experiences makes me wish I could follow the same trail and the same distance. Your restaurant meal didn't sound too bad either!
well went to the gym for cardio 2 miles @ 4.5 slow and 5.5 fast 25min. then went back to the gym for a private session with my trainer. we did lower body and boy is my legs feeling it. Did a hour and half traing session. total calories burned 1248 per cc. That puts me at 1346 deficate so far today. i ate 1746 calories today that is with my snack later. so is that okay or not enough.
I hadn't really done any exercise since this thread started, but I'm back at it now.
2 days ago I went on a 45 minute walk/run - yes run! I was pretty sure I would be able to now, I just didn't take into account how much fat wobbles around. My ankle was a bit sore, but I would run until I couldn't and walk until I could run again - repeat. Plus I was outside, so nice. I think i will add this into my gym routine now.
Later that day I hit the gym at an insanely busy time and just worked the weight circuit (strive system) and increased all the weights (total about 25lb each since I started) except for the biceps (weak weak) and I can feel a difference, it is fantastic.
Yesterday I went on a 2.5 mile walk with the elementary and middle schools with my kids. My daughter stayed with me the whole time and complained something fierce "my feet hurt" "my legs hurt" "my ribs hurt" "I'm hungry" "I'm thirsty" "are we there yet?" "how many more minutes" "my stomach hurts" "can the fire truck just carry me?" So we were in the very very back the whole time, followed closely by the fire truck. My son, so far ahead with his friends, couldn't even see him.
In a bit I'm going to go on another walk/run and later I'll hit the gym for hopefully some elliptical time and more weight training.
Everyone is doing great! It's amazing to read and see all the different forms of exercise we all choose. You guys are inspiring and you've also added some exercsie to me aresenal for later.
Today is a rest day for me so besides living and walking the floor of the store where I work, there will be no formal exercise. However, last night I went to the gym. Started with cardio (I'm using an iPhone program called "Couch to 5k"...not sure if I've mentioned that... and did week two, session two.) You do 5 minute warp up, 20 minutes of interval walking and running, then 5 minutes cool down. Of the 20 minutes, I think I ran almost 10 minutes last night. My running half of it is huge for me, it's the most I've run since I was 14.
After cardio, headed into the weight room to do a couple of supersets. Did a hammer curl (25 pounds with 12 reps each arm), into a decline sit-up (20 reps), into an incline dumbell flye (25 pounds for 12 reps), into a standing calf raise (with 30 pounds in each hand for 15 reps.) Did three sets of this. Then into a superset of upright cable bicep curls (30 pounds for 12 reps), right into cable crossovers (30 pounds for 12 reps), into lunges (started with 20 pounds in each hand for 6 reps per leg but ended last set with no weight in my hands.) Final superset was just incline press (with just weight of bar, which is 45 pounds, for 12 reps) and then bicep curls with curved bar (40 pounds for 12 reps.) Did 3 sets of this final superset. This morning my lats, traps and pecs are feeling everything I did yesterday. But it's the good kind of sore, know what I mean?
Have a fun weekend!![]()
well last night I went out to the club (had so much fun) and danced for almost 2 hours straight sweating and all I just kept moving I was having fun and burning calories at the same time
but now my feet are hurting its ok though
Just spent the last two hours raking leaves and helping the kids bag the front yard. We will have lunch and bag the back yard and then I will mow the lawn.
I must admit, I am a bit skeptical about the calories burned for raking the lawn...544 calories in an hour...I put myself down for 90 mins...still not sure I believe it.
Mowing the lawn is a different thing....I know I do a good work out there.
My activity level has been up by default the last 4 days. I am a substitute teacher who wasn't working until last week. There is no way you can be passive and effective in the classroom. (at least most of the time) On Thursday, my classroom was upstairs (24 stairs to change levels) so lets see - up to read lesson plans, down to get kids from recess, up to classroom with them, down to bus, up to grade papers etc, and down to go home. Altogether, 72 stairs going up and 72 stairs going down. Yesterday, I was in a high school built kind of in a big square with several connecting hallways - the classroom was in a back corner - opposite the office going one direction and opposite the staff room going the other - lots of walking since I also had to go back out to my car twice during the day as well. Needless to say, I am exhausted today & still have my housework to do today as well as my 10 year old will be here all afternoon.
I use to exercise a lot. It's time for me to get back on track and include it in my daily routine.
I'm in really bad shape not fit not fit at all.
My Goal:
I will walk for 5 mins each day. As I get better I plan to up that.
Today I walked for 5 mins.
I did absolutely nothing today.
And it was everything I thought it could be.
Still in recovery mode from painting and the last hike, so I just did some light housework and took the recyclables to the drop off.
Still having ridiculous weather here - 70 and sunny in november.
Raked the back yard and took the (13 55-gallon) bags to the yard waste center. Took an hour and 40 minutes.
Also got to watch my son participate in the time honored tradition of 'burying your sister in the leaves'.
Going for a 3 mile walk today and then if I am up to it (and my knee is) I will mow the lawn when I get home.
Not my traditional exercises but like 67alecto, we are having unseasonably warm weather and it's too hard to pass up.
we did a 7 mile hike. to some beautiful falls. we did it in 2.5 hours. we took our lunch in with us and had a nice picnic at the falls.
Hi I've been offline a few days. Well lurking but not posting odd mood. Anyway, here's what I've been doing the past few days.
Thursday, I don't think I did anything, I meant to I posted that I would but I didn't. I didn't go to Yoga cause I was being pouty and I didn't do a Leslie Sansone tape cause I didn't.
Friday: meant to go to yoga but I locked myself out and had to wait for the BF to come over and let me back in. :( Did get to spend more time with the BF which is always nice.
Saturday: Yoga day yay! One of my favorite instructors LeAnne was teaching the class and after the class told me it was really obvious that I was dropping weight :).
Sunday: 1/2 hour walk away the lbs dvd and Yoga. After yoga another one of the instructors Morgan told me she could see I've lost weight. :)
Peaceapple - it is sooooo nice when people who see you on a regular basis start to notice your weight loss! Congratulations - now you have another source of motivation and an acknowledgement that your hard work is actually paying off. Keep up the good work!!!!!
