Exercise (Walking) Question; what should I do?

Quote  |  Reply
I have started walking an hour nearly each day (up from 30 minutes per day, to try and get faster/better results). I feel a little better, but still can't tell much difference in my figure. Which should I do: up the intensity of walking, like a faster jog--putting more into it, or walk even longer, maybe add an extra 30 minutes? I know it takes a while, but HOW LONG should it be before me or anyone else notices a change?

Where are you at, body size now? If you are very overweight, then people will start to notice after about a month or so. If you are already kind of thin, then it will take longer. If you can find hills to walk up and down, or add in some knee kicks or other pylometrics while walking, that will help too. You could also try adding ankle and hand weights as well.  I have been walking/jogging with my dog for over a month now, twice a day, and nobody has noticed a thing, but I have lost an inch off my thighs and stomach. I am expecting to have noticable results by X-mas, right now I am 5'4", 163 and I am trying for 135.
it should take about 4-5 weeks, as long as your diet and eating habits are good.
i dont get how to walk when exerciseing,i mean do you just walk as if your walking to the shops and back but for longer? coz if that was true then exercise would be so easy for me, and how can u tell when someone is walking for exercise
Jog so that you get your heartrate up.
walk as if you are in a hurry to catch a bus, a taxi or to get to an important appointment.  you definetly won't be strolling along either!  that's about 3.5 on the treadmill (or more, maybe 3.7)
Also try walking in areas that have varying degrees of incline.
