Exercising for weight loss?
I'm a dancer and am pretty active, but I really want to loose some weight and get tighter all over. I'm having problems sticking to a 1200 cal a day diet (I always binge on my moms homemade bread) so I wondering if exercising outside of dance more would help me to loose weight and tone up?
Also, I can never seem to find the energy to workout at home. How do I fix this?
Edit: People have posted that I'm not eating enough. COuld trying to go for the bare minimum cause my binges?
Eat more? If you are active, you are going to need more than 1200 calories, unless you have very very tiny stats.
My stats:
Age 15 (as of three days ago :) )
Height 5'6/5'7
Weight Fluctuates between 123 and 130
Pant size 5
Shirt size medium
you dont have energy cuz your not eating enough. i read you're 16 15 (Edit: oh thanks for the correction). someone else can address the needs of a still growing body, but this is certainly way too low. 1200 is the bare minimum to keep a small, petite, inactive, adult female alive if she hangs out in bed all day. you are not that, so weight loss will probably go better when you are feeding all your cells. you need to feed those muscles and your brain! very important.
Hey there I used to be a dancer for 7 years. I would recommend that you do yoga or pilates, and jogging as well. Also, until very recently, I used to eat less than 1200 calories myself. I found out actually that the calorie restriction was probably my own worst enemy. When you are active and have so few calories, your body shuts down your metabolism and stops burning calories. Read my topic "To those who have or are upping calories" - that's where I got my info.

Yup! All kinds of funny stuff can happen to your body (and mind) when you aren't meeting your basic nutritional requirements. Since you are currently at the low end of a healthy weight for your height, you will see better results if you focus more on "toning up" than dropping weight. Eat your maitenance calories and add more strength training. The calorie tools on this site are not accurate for someone your age - try this one instead: http://www.kidsnutrition.org/bodycomp/energy/ energyneeds_calculator.htm. You will probably need around 3000 calories per day, which is pretty awesome. I wish I could eat that much!
