Not what I expected...please help

I changed to maintenance about two weeks ago since I reached my goal. Stats age 39, h 5'9", w 138, pretty active. On weight loss I ate 1600cal and pretty steadily dropped pound a week.

Now I should eat around 2000cal. Not just that is extremely hard to eat so much and I still eat around the 1600, but I started gaining. I would expect a little loss still, but I'm all wired up about it and cannot stop weighing myself. This morning I was 140.

Did I switch too soon? Can this be my bottom? It seems like there is still some chub on me, but not whole a lot. Am I just plain coocoo? I really don't want to go over 140, but it seems like I fluctuate a lot on day to day bases. Maybe I should drop all the way to the bottom of my BMI (136) and then watch it. Panic came over me. I worked hard I don't want to mess my body up. Please advice.

hi, kacka, i'd say you did great, and you should allow yourself a pound or two of fluctuation in your weight. it could simply be the increased amount of food that you are weighing.  daily fluctuations are absolutely normal.  it might be time to start weighing just once a week, (pick one day, and always the same day and time) and then adjust your calories up or down by 100 cals or so for the next few days.    and DEFINITELY increase your calories!  maybe not suddenly go 500 cals higher, but at least 300 or 400.  your body needs that, and it may surprise you to find you actually lose a little more when you do that.
Thank you elin. I just struggle with not having specific goal and I fear to loose all the work I put in. I have to relax a bit. I'm sure I'm not alone and I 'm grateful for all the help one can get here.

Hey kacka - Congrats on hitting your goal.  I am 5'10" 34 and I just weighed in this morning at 135 (I think you posted on one of my questions, so hello again).  It is a little less than my goal so I am switching to maintance mode starting today.  Do you think it is better to slowly increase calories each day or do you think yours might just be a fluke that sometimes can be seen by weighing each day (which I am totally guilty of too)?  I can completely relate to not wanting to backtrack after putting all the effort into getting in better shape and dropping a few pounds.
Howdy jan2008...elin had a good point on slowly adding about 100 cal a few days, but boy it is hard. It has to happen. The weight will still come off a little till we should be balanced on the intake and burn. The panic is slowly leaving me and today I was 138 again, but now I decided to weight just Saturday (I might have to lock the darn thing somewhere). To go without stuffing myself like in past, I'm just adding extra snack (banana, cereal bar or Special K with milk), even with that I find myself evening to look for something extra to get to 1700 cal.... how ironic! But it is great, isn't it? I will never get tired of bragging. This confusion was just minor set back. Let's keep going! Congratulation to you too!
