Any tips to keep the oatmeal from exploding in the microwave?
Currently, I put in 1/3 cup oats, 2/3 cup water, and a handful of frozen strawberries in a microwave-safe bowl, loosly cover with a paper towel and cook on high for 3 minutes. It ends up "exploded" (a big pain to clean up). I like my oatmeal mushy.
I tried it again using 1/3 cup oats, 2/3 cup water, nuking it for 2 minutes at 50% with no berries and it came out PERFECT!!! Thanks guys! Oatmeal crisis solved :)
Why not boil the water, then add the oatmeal? When I'm at work I just use the hot-water spigot from the water cooler. It's hot enough and I don't even have to go to the kitchen to use the microwave.
Keep it simple...
I put my oatmeal in an oversized coffee cup and microwave it, it usually doesn't make it over the top when I do it that way.
