I was reading the other thread about surgery and it made me wonder: would you get surgery to remove the extra skin you'll have after loosing weight?

Probably only ppl who loose a lot of weight have to deal with this. I would defitely get the surgery just because I worked so hard to get the body I want that I wouldnt want loose skin to ruin that.

i would support a friend who lost a lot of weight and wanted to do this - i would just want them to get a good dr and seriously look into it before they went through with it.

me, personally, i'm not sure. i think i would have to give it some time just to see what changes my body would do on its own (i hate going to the dr). but i admit, i've only lost about 35 pounds and there are times when i would love to 'erase' some areas and start anew. like you said - i worked hard for it!

I lost over 200 lbs a few years ago with gastric bypass surgery and I would love to have my extra skin removed even though I know it is intensely painful surgery and of course has all the normal risks of surgery.  The problem is that it is a real battle getting insurance to cover even when you the excess skin is causing health problems.  That said, I don't want to have all the surgery for excess skin.  I can live with a few droopy places, but if I had the money to cover it I'd be getting my stomach done tomorrow.

From what I've heard, it's an extremely painful, extremely expensive surgery .... I don't think I'd spend $15,000 to get it done (even if I had that "extra money" laying around!)

=^..^= MOLLY

I'm 24. 8 months ago I weighed 340- I'm now down to 232- and I Know that I"m going to have extra skin. I've been overweight my entire life...so, it's to be expected.

I decided a while back that I wouldn't have surgery. Why? Because I did this to my body, and I don't want to put it through any major surgeries- unless I Have to. It's been through enough!

I'm young, i've only just turned 24 and i want to feel my age.  i will DEFINITELY be getting surgery.

I know a tummy tuck is not recommended if you are intending to have children at some point, but realistically, thats not on the cards for another 8 years or so.

All i want is a normal body :(
