best way to tone up abs? i lost weight and have loose/extra skin on my stomach. not a TON, but when i lean over theres 3 little rolls (of skin, not fat) above my belly button. whats the best way to get rid of this?  i know its not a quick fix.  im not sure if regular ab exercises like crunches are even effective at all for this problem. so thought id get some insight. thanks! :)

Someone please answer this one! However, I think Plastic Surgery is all you can do for excess skin.(don't mean to steal the post, just need info too)

I have alot... but its there. When I do push ups it just hangs, makes me ill. But at least when I stand up you can actually see my six pack under the skin.

My inner thighs have some to! Any suggestion

Skin generally has a life cycle of 3-6 months so it can lag behind your weight loss some. And it depends on age, collagen elasticity and genetics too, but in general genuine loose skin only happens to people who've been more than 100lbs overweight for more than 3-6 months. So best thing for it is to wait it out while maintaining your new, lower weight so your body adjusts your skin to your new size.

Best way to support skin elasticity is to get plenty of omega-3 in your diet (eat some salmon), the proper lignands (fresh-milled flax seeds) maaaaybe some extra Vitamin E. Possibly something in the way of coconut oil/shea butter-based body lotion might help though that last bit is more speculative, and in any case your diet is by far the most important factor.

my abs are pretty toned.  My ab routine looks like this:

200 crunches:

25 regular

25 with legs up in the air

25 with legs bent to left side

25 with legs bent to right side

25 with legs bent out in front of you on ground in butterfly position

25 with legs straight out in front of you flat on ground

25 regular again

25 bicycle (alternating right elbow to left knee and left elbow to right knee)

thennn..i get on my side and with my hand on my hip, i lift my body up onto my elbow 10 times..then switch sides and do twice for each side

then i do 2 sets of 10 leg lifts each (when i bring my legs down, i open them wide then close them..like scissors)

then i roll onto my stomach and hold the plank position for a minute.

Sounds like a lot, but doing lots of sets of only 25 reps goes by quickly (takes me about 5 minutes to do the 200 crunches)..as you keep doing it, it gets really easy too.

There's a palmer's skin firming lotion that says that its specifically for tightening skin after weight loss. They say you have to use the product for 4 weeks to see results, but I've heard nothing but good reviews, and I've been using it as I lose.

I agree wholeheartedly with Melkor, who hit the nail on the head.  Diet is VERY important as is drinking enough water (devide your body weight in 2; the resulting number is how much you should be drinking in ounces).

It took my skin three years to come back after losing about 100lbs 20 years ago.  Although I looked great in clothes, bathing suits were a problem.  This time around, my skin is slowly coming back on it's own and I doubt I'll have to wait as long because my diet has changed considerably -- lots of healthy fats and oils and lots of water figure prominently in my diet.

If its loose skin, surgery is your only option, kinda like alot of women after childbirth, there aint an amount of situps in the world that will take it away, so eat right and if you have no children give it time.
