extremely embarrasing and painful period problems!! please help!

Quote  |  Reply

At my time of the month, i get really bloated.Although i understand bloating is kinda normal in a menstrual cycle.The bloating i experience makes my stomach hard and sore and also protrudes out by an inch more than usual and looks more rounded .However i do eat the same amount of calories and exercise the same amount as any other time.Also, im not pregnant lol.

Can anybdy suggest why this is? Could this be some kind of reaction to my BC?

Its annoying and upsetting having to deal with this every month as it often means i cant go out/move due to the pain and bloating.

Thanks =)

If it is that uncomfortable and you are on BC as well, talk to your doctor about this in general (to rule out other concerns) and also about swtching BC. Last word from my colleague at Planned Parenthood was that there are just over 60 different BC pills on the market, and each has different individual effects. Maybe you just need a little "tweak" in dosage/composition.

please,anyone?? im in a lot of pain right now :(
Thanks socioval :)

Just wondering,the bloating will go down as i finish my cycle and why does the bloating happen.Its really inconvenient if ive got somewhere to go with a bloated stomach!!

Well, I teach the psychology of sexuality, so I am no medical expert, but what I've gathered from medical colleagues is that there are a variety of causes, many basically of undefined etiology. Pre-menstrual bloating seems sometimes to be associated with the overproduction of certain hormones secreted by the adrenal glands in response to varying estrogen levels. Some women report that BC seems to exacerbate the problem, which makes sense because of their basic composition of (in most cases) synthetic hormones.

I also bloat quite a bit the week before my period and retain about 2lbs of water. I'm not 100% sure but I think this pre-menstrual bloating is due to water retention, it kind of makes sense though, I mean the water has to be retained somewhere right? I'm also on BC, and I know certain types of pill are better for reducing water retention, Yasmin for example. Try switching and see if this improves, though you may have to stick it out for about 3 months on the new pill before you see any difference in your symptoms.

Hi...

I recently read that the potassium in asparagus, bananas, melon,and strawberries can help flush excess fluid from your body, especially during that time of the month. Maybe you should try incorporating these healthy foods into your diet. Hope  this helps.

okay, this is really weird,

i have and ed but recovering and got my period after a year of missing it, and now when i get it i gain weight but my STOMACH WILL BE FLATTER than normal??? even though i'd get water retention and everything and i don't noramlly have a very flat stomach??? i'm 16, 5ft2 and 100 lbs
