Ezekiel bread... has anyone had this? What do you think?

Quote  |  Reply
I believe it can help control the insulin spike, but not 100% sure. Obviously better than white bread.

I bought some Ezekiel bread 10" tortillas the other day, and it has a very interesting, good taste! I was somewhat surprised!

Does anyone know much about this type of bread? And all it's benefits?

Hi chief89! I just bought some of the Ezekiel bread last sunday, and have been having 2 slices every morning with a small slice of frittata (i make it low fat, and only like 85 cals per slice) and this keeps me not hungry for 41/2-5 hours. usually I have to eat every 2-3 hours or I get the shakes so bad. The bread has good flavor, and its thick and chewey. I really like it. I may try the low carb one when this loaf is done, only because this one is 80 cals per slice, and the other , i think, is 45 per slice. I wonder if this will keep me full as long though.

hey Lurleen!
I bought the bread at Stuart Fine Foods (grocery store), and it was frozen when I bought it. I havent been able to find it in any of the other 2 food stores we go to, but they may carry it in a health food store, if you have them around you.
The frittata thing I make goes like this:
I coat a cake pan in non stick spray
then mix together 6 egg whites (102 cal)
2 whole eggs (140 cal)
4 tbs half and half (80 cal)
and mix well.
Pour in the cake pan.
sprinkle on top of the egg mixture:
1/2 small can mushrooms (30 cals)
2 one forth cups of reduced fat shreded cheese (160 cals)

this come to 512 cals, and I cut it into 6 pieces, which is 85.2 cals per slice.

I bake it at 350 in preheated oven till it looks done...not the best directions, haha/ it will puff up, and start to get golden on top, thats when i take it out.maybe 30 minuets or so, then leave it in the pan for a while.

you could add anything to the egg mix. I may change it up and put broccoli, or some canadian bacon, or ham.
Enjoy!!!

Thank you for the recipe. I can do that..and your instructions were wonderful...giggles...I might can go to the bigger cities and see if I can find that bread. I will keep looking for it. thanks for your kindness....huggers
Wow! That sounds really tasty! I'm going to have to try that. As for the Ezekiel bread I bought, I hadn't even looked in the local grocery stores, so I don't know if they carry it. I found mine in a local health food store. The brand I got was called "Ezekiel 4:9" I believe. This is direct from the Bible, in what comes together to make the bread, hence it's name... comes from the book of Ezekiel.

Google the net, you will find some interesting stuff on it. I believe because of the nature of this bread, you do have to always keep it refrigerated.
Oh I think I will go and look that up...how interesting...I didnt think to look in the refrigerated section for bread...huggers
