Ezekiel bread - what is your favorite? any recipes?
does anyone here eat Ezekiel bread? how do you store it and for how long? I like the low sodium one and I keep in the freezer. How long can it stay in the freezer without losing its nutrients? I keep it for about 3 weeks sometimes because I am the only person who eats it.
what is your favorite product? and how do you eat it ( besides making sandwiches)? any ideas?
I am also looking for a low calorie - one serving bread pudding ( something like a dessert).
it is yummy when you cut it into small pieces and add it to a warm glass of milk. :)
nobody here eats Ezekiel bread?:)
I'm not crazy about Ezekiel bread but I do remember seeing this recipe for Ezekiel bread stuffing.

thank you:) what is your favoriate bread?
I liked the one with sesame seeds on it. I also stored it in the freezer for long periods of time. I have no idea whether or not it lost nutrients or not.
Honestly, I think you can substitute it for bread in any recipe that uses bread.
I made french toast with it and egg whites once. I just heated it in the microwave instead of the toaster before I soaked it in the egg whites.
I've always wanted to make stuffed french toast and use greek yogurt as the filler. Still have yet to try it. I also saw some of the ezekiel brand tortillas. Any body tried those??
Not a big fan of the ezekel bread either. I love AlpineValley Organic Bread Multi Grain with Omega-3 that is sold in local Costco. It makes an awesome toast!

Lately, I'm loving ancient grain bread from my local natural foods store. It's so dense & chewy & slightly sweet. Mmmm.

I did and they sucked. When I thawed one out, it was quite stiff and had the consistency of a Fruit Roll-up. It was difficult to bite through.
thank you marisahojnacki and cellophane_star
I was about to buy those tortilla. I 've heard that fat flush tortillas are good. anyone tried those?
UD, lucky you. I have no cotco around here. where else I can find that bread?

So take a slice of your Ezekiel & dip it in egg whites (coating is completely) and then pan fry it (using spary olive oil or course) on both sides until it looks down (browned) then sprinkle with stevia (powdered) & cinnamon/nutmeg/cloves (pumpkin pie seasoning) or if you want calorie free/sugar free pancake syrup!
*I used to eat this all the time back in the day, but now I'm on my pumpkin kick!
I eat the regular Ezekial all the time for breakfast. I usually just toast it and top it with one egg and shredded light cheddar cheese. It's satisfying because it seems like "bad" breakfast and keeps me full until lunch time. I actually really like the bread. If I ever run out, and end up eating the normal whole wheat bread that the rest of family eats, I think it tastes sooo weird. Plus, Ezekial is like half the size of other bread slices and it's twice as filling (to me anyways).
The english muffins are pretty good too. I usually just eat those plain though, or with a bit of the Becel spray (I guess I'm boring lol).
The Ezekial spaghetti was sooooo gross! I reccommend NOT trying that. First of all, it was like $5.00 for the box, and when it was cooking it broke into like 2" long pieces. Then, as for taste, I thought it was mushy and bland (and I didn't over-cook it). That's the only bad Ezekial product I've sampled so far. Definitely not worth the money.
I also have the cinnamon raisin bread, but I have yet to try it...
I keep all my Ezekial stuff in the freezer as well, and it probably takes me about 1 month to eat a loaf of the bread. I have no idea if it loses nutrients though - can't help you with that!

lol. I bought their pasta. not sure about the taste yet because I haven't tried it yet. the box has been setting there in my room for a month.
you know, it is really weird that they don't put an expiration date. how am I suppose to know if it is fresh or not?
I guess I will switch to UD 's bread.
UD, I haven't ordered the muffins yet. simply, i am having a self control issues these days. will order them once it is resolved:)
thanks, UD for the website.
Giasbash, I know you love pumpkins. Thanks for the idea. but tell me if I do the toast thing, how will I calculate the calories in that toast? I mean you just coat the bread but you don't know exactly how much egg whites you used.
as for counting the calories in egg whites: try buying the carton of liquid egg whites. I use better'n eggs. 1/4 cup is 30 calories. pour it on top of the bread slice. if it soaks it all up count it as 30 or add 1/4 cup at a time until it soaks it up. I usually round up. If it used a little less than 1/2 cup and there is still some in the bowl I count it as 1/2 cup/ 60 calories.
I find it easier to over estimate calories than to obsess over whether I under estimated calories.
Ezekiel low sodium bread is my favorite. I use it for sandwiches most of the time. I have made french toast with it before and it turned out pretty good.
I just bought Ezekiel english muffins and they are pretty good! Nice & chewy. I think they would be best with peanut butter/jam/sweeter spreads though. A plain ol' whole wheat one would work best with a breakfast sandwich.
I haven't tried Ezekiel bread. My favourite bread are pitas, and I pick Joseph's for them. They're low calorie (60/per pita), low carb, and have whole wheat, flax seed, and oat grains in them. They also have omega-3! They're soft and super tasty. :)
I like the sesame bread myself. Keep it in the freezer and toast a slice every morning to have with peanut butter. I let it get pretty toasty too, otherwise I don't like the texture and well toasted gives it a nice toasty smell and taste.
As far as the tortillas, they are great as long as you don't plan to use them where you would use a normal tortilla.
Straight from the freezer to the toaster oven, they dry up pretty quick but make for decent chips.
But there is no expiration date and I am wondering why? and for how long can you store them in the freezer?
I am still looking for a low calorie bread pudding :)
I'm in love with the sesame bread, not to mention the fact that it's guilt free! Ezekiel bread is one of the only breads that is legitimately 100% whole wheat as opposed to the other "whole wheat" breads that try to scam you out of your money and are essentially simple carbs masquerading as whole grain. Shady.
