Hello all!

I didn't get fat over night. Thus, while I wish there was some quick fix, it's going to take time to reach an acceptable BMI. Would anyone like to make the journey together?

I have a great deal of weight to take off ( 74 pounds) and the number seems unobtainable at first glance. Therefore, my first goal is to be able to look in the mirror and like a part of my body.... any part of my body! Today I like my hands. My fingers are long, almost elegant, and my manicure looks great. Now to like the rest of me! Giggles!

Happy New Year and wishes for your success!

Day Nine....today I allowed a photo to be taken of me! I normally RUN from cameras as I am so fat. However, today my dear hubby took a photo that shows that my tight black jeans and now my loose black jeans! If you want to see it it's in the gallery.  While I don't love how I look in the photo, I like that I look better than I did nine short days ago!

Love to you all!

Dang girl! You're gonna give Subway Jared a run for his money ;)

I love how happy you look in that photo! I love that "Oh no, I've slimmed out of all my clothes! Guess I'll have to get new ones!" YAY! :)

Today I like my ankles. I don't particularly like my feet (big, smelly boy feet), but my ankles and calves are pretty darn good and I don't give them the credit they deserve. After I get the transfer card, I'll start taking more pictures and adding them to the gallery. I'll take a picture of my ankles today :)

Today is day one for me.  I've got a long ways to go to reach my goal weight . . . about 100 lbs or so.  But, like has been said, I didn't put this weight on overnight, so it's not going to come off overnight.  Darn it anyway!!!  One of my best friends is a member of this site and has lost 30+ pounds since she started last summer.  She's mentioned several times how good this site has been for her, so I decided to give it a try.  I'm starting to suffer from some ill effects of my weight . . . ciatica for one . . . which I know that loosing weight will help tremendously.  I'm 40 years old . . .and I'm too young to feel this terrible.

Oh, and today I love my hands .  My wrists are fairly small and my fingers are slender.  The only thin part about me. . . but that will change!!!

Yep, one day at a time!

Congratulations on this first step! I hope everyday you come back and post another body part your'e diggin'! ;)

Also, 100 lbs isn't that much and can easily be taken care of in less than a year! On another forum a 15 year old girl said she lost 95 lbs since last May. And she's just a kid! If you take everything you've learned and apply them here, you'll do great! So, congratulations for taking the first step and good luck for the future!

Welcome MINDYL! It's great to have you here. Your friend is right, this is one awesome sight. Here you will be able to make the changes needed toi have a WONDERFUL quality of life. Your body will feel it sooner than you think.

Today is day 10 for me. One of my friends turned to me and said, " Wow, something has changed for you. You are walking happy!" She's right. My head is up, I'm smiling, my shoulders are back. It's an air of pride that comes with seeing 13 pounds drop away so quickly.

I have skinless, boneless chicken breasts simmering in diced tomatoes, chillies, and a little cumin. It smells so good. I love being able to eat such wonderful, tasty food! I'm not a junk food junkie anymore.

Today I love my brain for making intelligent choices! I'm proud of myself and it feels better than anything I could imagine!

Well today is my third day and I've already made a dumb choice.  I regularly stop and get a skinny s/f flavored latte in the morning, which isn't too bad, but I also regularly get a donut.  Today was the first day I've stopped there since last week.  They know me there so she had my order all ready.  Rather than say no thanks on the donut I took it.  :(  On the upside, I only ate about half it and tossed the rest.  It just didn't taste as good as normal.

This weekend I'll be going shopping to buy the right foods . . . mainly more fresh vegetables to have on hand.  So next week should be easier since I'll have good food in the house to eat.

Today I really can't think of any part of me that I like.  I'm having a bad hair day and my lower back and leg is killing me.  Oh, wait, I love my toes!  The one thing I've been doing for myself in the last year or so is getting regular pedicures.  My toes are a lovely shade of pink/purple glitter.

Hi MindyL!

You are so awesome to toss out half the donut! I'm pretty sure I would have had to eat the whole thing! It's so hard to tell your favorite restaurant staff no. I could have slapped my favorite waiter when he kept pushing the molten lava fudge cake after I said no! He just kept going and I just kept saying no! I won (cue the evil laughter and clap of thunder!).

Thanks for mentioning that it just didn't taste the same. I've past up a lot of sweets this week. I think of how they would taste and if  that taste is really good enough to throw away my will power for! I don't regret saying no, but I miss nibbling all those treats.

We are going out to eat again tonight. I've saved about 100 calories and I know I am safe with a salad or sushi. One day, when I am ready, and when the food is really worth it, I'll let myself have  one meal which is above my calorie limit. I figure if I go over for just one meal and then get right back to the normal routine, it won't ruin my life.

That's true KoiLady.

I try to do that about once a week or so. Just make sure to log it that way you can see where you splurge, and all the other nutritional value of it.

On that note: I definitely ate half a slice of Hershey's Chocolate Cake at Denny's. God it was good. But I know that I can't do that every day. And I know that when I do, I have to watch my portions (hence half). Luckily, the boyfriend gladly ate the other half for me! :)

So. Today I like my stomach. That's a lie, I don't like my stomach, I like the vertical line that draws from my sternum down to my belly button. I don't have a flat belly (I've got the little lady pooch), but I can tell I've got some muscle under there because of that line. I LOVE that line!

One last bit: Those little 100 calorie snack packs of cookies are awesome for those sweet-treat cravings. They also give you the little crunch factor that I'm usually craving. They have chocolate chip cookies, Oreos, brownies, etc. They're not too bad either!

Missglendale is right. Having someone to split an order with, be it a the main item (who needs to eat 1/2 a roasted chicken???) or a piece of cake is a God send.

Today I love my jaw line. My icky double (triple?) chins are fading away and I can see a demarcation between my face and my neck. Wow, it's almost shocking how much better I look!

I'm sitting here thing about how great it will one day be to look in the mirror and see a tummy I don't have to hide under plus size shirts. Muscle lines are so dang cool!

Oh yeah. I'm definitely working on my abs the hardest! I want to have the best belly in the pageant. My goals are that by this summer I'll be flat, and that by the pageant I'll have defined abs. DANG that'd be so cool! I took some before pictures I'm going to post ASAP. :)

You go Miss Glendale! You have what it takes to wear that crown!

Which ab exercises do you favor?

I prefer basic crunches. I like calisthenics over machines, because I can do them any time (during commercial breaks in my favorite shows, while I'm waiting for water to boil, etc!). I also like the one (don't know the name) and you rest, belly down, on your elbows, hands together, and raise your pelvis up, so your body makes a straight line. You can either do this on your toes (SOOO hard!) or on your knees. It sounds really lame, like it wouldn't do anything, but let me tell you... a few minutes of that and you'll feel that burn!

I want to try doing situps on an exercise ball too. I heard those are good because you have a wider range of motion. Maybe a stack of pillows would work just as well, or even an armless chair (sitting sideways)... I'll have to try those out and I'll get back to you with my findings!

Today, I like my biceps. They're not very big, but compared to how they've been my entire life, they're pretty dang amazing!

How about you? What body part are you completely in love with today?

I've been noticing little changes.  My outer thighs are firm to the touch and really hard when I tense them!  Embravened by Miss Glendale, I looked at my stomach in the mirror. While I don't have a line like her's yet, I have a wonderful little area about the size of a silver dollar above my belly button. In that area, my tummy is dipping in and "previewing" the flatter, sexier tummy yearning to break free! Laughing

Have you added a ticker from the TickerFactory yet? Oh my gosh they are such a kick and a nice little motivator!

At the rate you're losing, you're going to have to get a new cute, little swimsuit for summer!

I haven't gotten a ticker yet, but I do plan on posting a picture or two of my motivation in my gallery! (Mostly just past pageant winners)

Last night we watched the movie 300 and I was so pumped up on adrenaline, I did a whole mess of situps. After I was done, I'd done 300 crunches (hahaha!), completely coincidental, too!

Happy Birthday, Sharonjaz!  What a great gift you have given to yourself.  The gift of a new start: )
Today I really like my biceps. They're not big, but I can feel the muscle in them and even have the tiniest little curve to them when I flex. Seeing that tiny curve is all it takes to make me wanna go to pushups and make them bigger! I want to be totally firm and toned! I'm so excited when I see even the tiniest definition! Speaking of which, not only to I have the tiny curve on top, I have the definition shadow! WOOO! So excited! How are you gals looking today?

Too cool Miss Glendale! You are going to look so stunning up there on the runway during the pagent!

Todaywas tough and I'm groughy. I'm proud that I did not turn to food for comfort.

I can see the bottom of my ribcage now. 15 pounds ago my abodmen was all just  round mound.  That's the best I can do today. LOW EBB

WOOO! GO KOILADY! You lost 15 lbs?! That's awesome!!! Congratulations!

And congrats on the ribcage! When losing weight, it's always great seeing bones; collar bones, rib cage bones, hip bones. Just don't get too skinny! You want to stay healthy, remember!

I like my shoulders!

Physicallythey are getting stronger. There is a nice little muscle that seems to be forming above the joint were my arm meets my body.

Emotionally these shoulders can hold more than I've given myself credit for. The last three days have had a lot of up's and downs....mostly downs. Never once have I eaten more than my calorie allotment for the day. Never once have I found myself face to face with a Ben and Jerry's carton. I haven't baked and eaten a dozen biscuits or poured a little wine only to suddenly discover half the bottle gone.

I'm in control this time. I like having my shoulders to the grind stone!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

Mine is somewhat similar, as today I like my cest. No, not my lady bits, no. That muscle just above, under the collar bone. I did a bunch of pushups and they ached for days I couldn't even lean while sitting in bed or put any weight on them, they hurt so bad. I like them because I know they exist!

I had a pretty scuzzy day today (TOM's on Monday and I think it has to do with that!) so I took a bubble bath and stayed away from the chocolates! I feel great now. Totally zenned out. Hope everyone else is doing well!
