Hi there! I am a veteran of the yo-yo game. Here's hoping I break the cycle for the sake of my two boys (ages 6 and 3). I want to keep up with them, and I don't want them following my example. I weigh myself just twice a month, though...I hope that's OK.

I'm losing this time by maintaining a 1500-2000 calorie diet with a lot of exercise on my trusty Nordic Track elliptical. I've had if for 9 years. It's helped me lose a lot of weight in that time.

I'm 37 y/o and 5'6

My Goal Weight is: 180 by May 10 (For phase three, at least...doing the 10% at a time thing)

Starting Weight  on Dec 15, 08: 251.6

Jan 16: 229.6 -4.7 lbs to go! Should be there by next weigh-in!

Jan  30:223.6 -Goal! New goal is 199 by March 30.

Feb 13: 214.8 -8.8 lbs/36 lbs total.

Feb 27: 207.2 -7.6 lbs/44 lbs total.

Mar 13: 201.4 -5.8 lbs/50 lbs total.

Mar 27: 192.8 -8.6/58.6 lbs total. I don't get this number, but I'll take it Smile

Apr 10:  187.8 -5/63.8 lbs total. It's slowing down, but I expected it to.

Apr 24:  178.6 -9.2/73 lbs total. Goal! Now I just want to drop another 8.6 lbs!

May 8:   172.4  -6.2/ 79.2 lbs total.

Wow! Maybe by the next official weigh-in I'll be there.

May 22: 167.0 -5.4 / 84.6 lbs total.

Well, well, well. It's been 167 for two days in a row now. Over the week-end I started increasing my calories. I just want to lose another two pounds and then I'll go on maintenance. Let's see if I can do it by my next"Fabulously Focused FRIDAY" check-in. Cheers!

I don't know why it keeps coming off! Seriously, I eat around 2500 calories a day now, but I still work out on my elliptical for 45mins/day four days on, one day off. My goal is to stay fabulously focused on maintenance!

July 17: 154.4 

Pretty happy with this. My weight has fluctuated up to 157 during this fortnight, and back down to 154.4 this morning. So it's all good. I am eating an average of 2575 calories a day now, but only if I keep up my workouts on my trusty elliptical.

September 11: 155.2

Up a bit, but it's all good...I moved and had to eat a lot of fast food and forgo many evenings on the elliptical

September 25: 154.4: 

I have been up to 161 since my last post, but with some hard work and discipline I've managed to get back down to an almost "normal BMI" I say that doesn't matter, but for some reason, it does.

 October 1: 153.6:

Alright! I'm officially back in normal BMI territory. I think my daily average of 2575 calories a day (with lots of working out) really is my "sweet spot" for maintenance with a little loss each month. I may actually have to cut back on my working out by one day a week, or eat more. Tough choice, that one!

1/7/09 - I'm just starting out.  Supposed healthy goal weight (according to this program) 143.  I'd be happy with 150, I think.  My lowest weight I can remember was 160 (1999).  I'm now up to 200, and suffering back problems.  It's time to get serious about health.  I've never really tried to change my diet.  Exercise has been sporadic.  Focusing first on portion control & calorie counting, b/c I've never done this before.  Exercise will come next.

5/8/09 - 171 (+1) - I've been carb-loading a little and eating at the maintenance level this week in preparation for my race tomorrow.  I ran one day before eating much & couldn't make it b/c I had no energy because I hadn't eaten enough.  Tough balance, that.

5/15/09 - 171 (0) - I took the week off from everything - counting, exercising, etc.  I guess I've been eating about at maintenance.  I think I have a pretty good idea of the ballpark of how to eat now.   I'll jump back in after this weekend.  Oh, and I finished the race, no problem.  6.2 miles at about 11 minutes per mile.

5/22/09 - 170 (-1) - Back to exercise. I've been biking and walking and running.  I have not been counting, but I have been eating about what I ate when I was counting.  I basically keep it to one treat a day at about 200 calories, and then eat normally.  When I eat out, I eat only half.  I tried on my nice black dress the other day, and it gave me motivation to lose more.  It fits so much better than it did last October, but it seems if I could lose the last half, it would be killer.  So I'm gearing up the energy to make it through the last 27lbs.

5/29/09 - 169 (-1) - Good week, I suppose.  Signed up for a half-marathon this fall to give myself motivation to keep running.  Decided to try for 10 lbs by August 8, to keep myself motivated over the summer.  Have gone back to counting calories to try to have a 35,000 deficit over the 10 weeks.

6/5/09 - 168 (-1) - 30 lbs lost!!!!  And I've had lots of comments about my current figure, so the weight-loss is starting to show.  I'm finding it more difficult now to maintain a 500 cal deficit each day - almost impossible, given that there are many days I don't have time to exercise.

6/12/09 - 167 (-1) - This is getting really hard for me.  I have kind of lost the will to eat right, and I've lost the time to invest in keeping myself accountable.  I'm still running though.  Signed up for a new race in October, so I'll start training for that in a few weeks.  Right now, I just need to focus on making good choices one day at a time.

6/19/09 - 167 (0) - Too much going on right now.  I have several cases up for hearings and I've had meetings every night this week.  I only ran once so far this week,and twice last week.  Hopefully it will get better soon.

6/26/09 - 165 (-2) - Stressful week. Eating only happened as a side thought.  Ate a lot of nuts & seeds this week.  Only ran once because of the heat.  Next week I'm supposed to start training for the half marathon in the fall.

7/10/09 - 166 (+1) - Went on vacation & missed a week, ate lots of candy & junk food, didn't run much.  I'm back home now & trying to get back on track.  Life seems a little less stressful after vacation, and I'm hoping to have a little more time to focus.

7/17/09 - 165 (-1) - Birthday week = tons of cake & chocolate.  But I've also tried to run & drink lots of water.  Taking it one day at a time.  But I did manage to lose 30 lbs by my 30th birthday, as a birthday present to me.  Happy birthday. :)

7/24/09 - 165 (0) - seems I've hit a bit of a plateau.  But I tried on some clothes this week, and I'm wearing a 10 skirt now.  That's down from a 16.  wow.

7/31/09 - 165 (0) - I guess I'm maintaining here, which is better than it could be.  I'm training for a half marathon, so I'm still trying to figure out how much to eat so that I'm not starving.  I keep increasing mileage too, so that screws things up.  And I'm still eating too many sweets.

8/7/09 - 165 (0) - wow - still 165.  No time to plan meals, count calories, and I'm lucky if I exercise.  Actually, I've been pretty good at the exercising.  I consider it a positive that I'm not gaining anything right now.  Still have about 20 lbs to go, but it will be September before I can focus again.

8/21/09 - 165 (0) - nothing to report.  Headed overseas for a couple of weeks.  Running 7 miles tomorrow, if the weather cooperates.

9/11/09 - 168 (+3) - I traveled overseas, still ran, but calorie counting was not happening.  I'm about 5 weeks away from the half marathon (run 8 miles tomorrow).  After that I'm going to do the p90x program to try to kick the last 20lbs.

You guys are an amazing inspiration....look at you all go!

Starting weight- 248 pounds

Goal weight- 150 pounds.  The BMI says 144, but I think I'm ok with 150, its a nice round (or not so round) number.

January 21- signing into the board, going for a crazy step class at the gym tonight and I AM GOING TO DO THIS.  In the last 3 weeks I've lost 16 pounds and so I'm going to start with that to make myself feel good.

January 24- 225.  A loss of 2 pounds in six days.   I think I've got my calorie deficit almost right now!

January 30th- 221.  I'm especially proud of this one as I've been going to the gym like a maniac, taking part in some really hard classes AND most importantly, I went to my friends place for a dinner and was surrounded by chips and chocolate and managed to eat only a few and stay under my calories for the day!  NEVER would have happened even a month ago.

February 6-219.2 (-1.8) I bought a scale and it weighs me in WAY different than the one at the gym.  So even though the one at the gym says 217 (yay!) I'm going with the one at home so that I can weigh myself in nice and early in the morning.   

February 13- 216.6 (-2.6) A good week with no cheating, re-incorporating some of my fav foods (sushi!) and lots of time at the gym.  Plus I joined a running group and am now in training for a 10K April 19th....scary!

February 20- 215.8 (-0.8) Not such a good week, but I was expecting that since my best friend came into town and we drank and I decided to just not count calories for 2 days.  But, since I decided that before hand I don't feel guilty AND I still managed to lose SOME weight. 

February 27- 211.0 (-4.8) YAY!!!!!

March 7- 208.8 (-2.2).  I actually weighed in on Saturday because I'm having roommate issues and hadn't slept much during the week.  When I cheated and weighed myself in early I had gained, and then Friday I had only lost .2 pounds....but last night I slept for 13 hours and voila! A respectable loss!

March 13- 207.6 (-1.2)

March 20- 205.4. (-2.2)  I have tendonitis in my knee now, so I'm a little bit scared about how the weight loss will go.....and especially what this means for my 10k run.....

March 27- 203 (-2.4). 

April 3- 199 (-4).  WAAAAAAHOOOOOOOOO! Do you see that?  The number starts with a one!  Oh yes it does!

April 10- 197.6 (1.4) After such a big loss last week this little drop doesn't really suprise me. I did actually see 196 at some point during the week, but I'm ok with this. 

April 17- 192.6 (-5) I know, it's huge.  Maybe it's too big but SHOOT that feels good!!!!

April 28- 194.6 (+2) A very late check in from last week.  And my first gain.  I guess I should have expected this with a five pound loss last week and then a week and a half of vacation (read: sushi, cookies, chips, and BOOZE, BOOZE, BOOOOOOZE)

May 1st- 190.4 (-4.2) It's so nice to know that I can undo vacation.  When I first read the scale I freaked right out thinking I was on the fast track to gaining everything back.  But here I am back on top with a major loss!! It feels great!

May 8- 190.4.  Deadlocked.  My very first plateau.  A little bit frusterating.  I wanted to be at 188 so I could do the 60 pounds happy dance.  Oh well, I'll get there....it's just going to take longer now.

May 15- 189.8.  (-0.6) GRRRRRR.  I'm so used to big(ish) numbers.  This is driving me crazy.  And I had to go for run this morning to get this number.  At first the scale showed 191.  WHY?  Stupid freakin plateau.  I hate it.  I WORK TOO HARD FOR THIS.

May 22- 190.4 (+0.6).  I'm going to hurt someone.  I can't take this freakin' plateau anymore.  I'm doing EVERYTHING right.  I cycle my calories, but only go about 1600 once every week or two.  I never go below 1200.  I work out everyday and just added ANOTHER workout, so now 1/4 of the time I spend awake is spend purposely being active.  I switch up activities, I added swimming, I increased my weights for resistance training and I mix high and low impact cardio.  I eat lots of fiber, no refined sugar, very little fake sweetener, lots of fruit and veggies and drink like 3 liters of water a day.  WHAT THE EFF IS GOING ON?!?!?!?!?!?

I like the idea of weighing in on Friday and I think I need to be held accountable by as many people as possible. I'm 24, 5'3" and my goal is to be 150 by October 2009 for my cousin's wedding. I've set up a few goals in between now and then to help keep me on track.

Starting Weight: 211 (1/10/09)

1/23/09: 207.4 (-3.6) This is actually the first time I've weighed myself since I started. But I'm hoping to reach my first goal of 200 by 2/14/09 when I leave for a trip to Seattle to visit my brother. I'm also striving to get out of bed more than twice a week to walk on my treadmill.

1/30/09: 206.2 (-1.2) Not awful, I didn't get any work outs in this week but I plan on a really good one Sunday. I know this is going to be gradual, so I'm just happy for any negative numbers here. I just need to get in a 2-3 workouts a week to see some real poundage melt away.

2/5/09: 207.2 (+1.0) Been really sick and kind of took the time off from calorie counting to take care of myself. This is a late post (it's Tuesday already) and I'm still miserably sick so I doubt my numbers next week will be great either but I'm trying to count more now.

2/14/09: 207.4 (+0.2) Those 0.2lb might very well be mucus. Still fighting off this awful cold.

2/23/09: 211.2 (+3.8) Well between a week in Seattle eating with my family, beer/wine tasting, and TOM I suppose this was inevitable. I'm hoping most of that is water weight and by next Friday I'll stabilize back closer to 205. I am also determined to work out at least 3 times this week, if not more.

2/27/09: 206.8 (-4.4) Glad to be back on the down trend, most of that was water weight from Seattle though.

3/6/09: 207.0 (+0.2) Had an uncommonly large dinner last night but plan on really kicking up the workouts next week with my new elliptical.

3/13/09: 207.8 (+0.6) Grrrr. I feel trimmer but the weight isn't on the down trend. I WILL get 5 work outs in this week and I WILL log EVERYTHING.

3/20/09: forgot to weigh in

3/27/09: 207.4 (-0.4) I feel a lot better in general this week. I worked out a bit more and drank a lot of water. I even saw 206.4 on the scale during the week so I'm fairly certain I'm carrying a little water weight still and I hope to flush it out.

4/3/09: 206.4 (-1) My allergies were killer this week. I'm finally (almost) entirely out of the haze. I've become a lot more serious in counting and I'm very happy with the downtrend thus far. If I can add in a little more exercise the next few weeks I may be able to pump the loss up to 2lbs a week. That'd make me extremely content.

January 3, 2009 203 - I eat smaller portions and little to no refined foods. I do get to have 1-2 100 calorie snacks a day, but my meals are strictly meat, veges, and fruit.

January 23, 2009 198 - I lost my first 5 lbs...I'm so happy that in one month I reached my first goal, to get under 200!!! WooHoo!Surprised

1/23/09~232 lbs-I've lost about 5 in the past 2 weeks, but I was doing weight watchers.  It worked for me once before, but I'm having a hard time sticking to it.   I am new to CC.  Hopefully the site will help me to kick it up a notch!

I love what you guys are doing.

I currently weigh 196.00 - Thats about 4lbs. less than my starting weight of 200.00. 

  • My goal is to loose 10lbs. for now.  My big plan is to get to 150.00 by the end of the year.  12 months to go!

 

  • So I reached my 10lb. goal.  My new goal is to get to 20lbs. by my birthday in June. 

 

  • I lost 20 lbs. before my birthday! I went shopping last week, and I felt amazing.  I didnt have to go in the big girls section once!  I bought all of my clothes off the rack, and they didnt look lumpy or loose.  I love my new body, and I am going to keep working on it until I have to buy even more clothes!

 

01/30/09 : 196.00 lbs

I'm a little worried about Super Bowl weekend this weekend.  I asked my husband to help me stay on track.  I'll focus on eating chicken and salad, and snacking on the veggie platters instead of the chips.  FOCUS!

02/13/09 : 190.8 lbs

I didnt get a chance to check in last week.  I had a lot going on.  But I'm glad to report that I have reached my goal of 10lbs.  I cant wait to break through the 190's.  I'ts valentines day tomorrow and I want to do something special for my honey, 'cause he's been very supportive.  See you next week!

02/20/09: 189.8

I was sick for a few days this week and had to miss my excersice class.  The good thing is that I still lost some weight.  I'm in the 180's!  Wahoo!

02/27/09 : 190.2

Blah!  I gained .4!  Well, I only have myself to blame.  I only exercised once this week and I went a little crazy with my eating.  I still met my goal of 10lbs by the end of Feb., so I cant beat myself up too much.  I have to get back on the horse and keep on riding!

03/06/09 : 189.8

Phew!  Back in the 180's.  I need to keep a close eye on what I'm eating.  I've been around this same weight for 4 weeks now.  I want to get to 185 by the end of March, and I wont be able to do it at this pace.  FOCUS!Yell

03/13/09: 186.4

Wahoo!!! I did really well this week.  I went to my exercise class and ate like a champ.  185 here we come! Laughing

03/27/09: 185.00

I did it!!  I've been able to loose 15lbs. since I started this thing.  I'm very proud of myself for being able to stick to my goal.  Now I have to loose another 5 lbs. in April.....

04/10/09: 184.6

I've been ashamed of showing my face here.  I have been horrible these last couple of weeks.  I havent lost much and my goal is to loose 5lbs. by the end of April.  I need a swift kick in the butt. Embarassed

I finally broke 184!.  I'm only 3 lbs. away from my June goal of 20lbs.  I cant wait!  My husband and I are going to Vegas for our anniversary, so I'm hoping to look good!  Must...do...well.... Yell

Havent had a chance to weigh in for a few weeks, so I figured I would update you now that I broke 180.00.  My goal is to get to 175.00 by the end of the month, but that might no be realistic.  I have my anniversary and vacation coming up and I'm excited to show off my new "sexy" shorts.  Wink 

 P.S.  I met my goal of 20 lbs. before my birthday.  Yay me!

I'm in. Starting today, after a few months of not really focussing on my diet...it showed with a 20 pounds gain over the 30 I had lost! :( But there we go! If I can give up caffeine, I can certainly lose weight!

February 12th, 2009 - 255 pounds (not quite friday, but it'll do for this week)

February 20th, 2009 - 253 pounds (still a little fluctuation over the course of the week because of water weight - I was at 250 yesterday. I really need to watch my sodium intake and drink even more water)

March 13th, 2009 - 246 pounds  (skipped a few weeks because I weight myself, but was away, continuous weightloss despite a vacation where I wasn't good at all and the worst menstrual cramps of my life that kept me unable to workout for a whole week)

April 17th, 2009 - 234.6 pounds. Still totally on track, just keep forgetting to update this thread.

May 1st, 2009 - 233.6 Kind of frustrating with the slow weight loss, now. Especially since I'm working my ass off.

May 14th, 2009 - 226.8 A really quick drop. Let's celebrate the end of plateau!

May 26th, 2009 - 225.8 I'm in stuck land from stuckville again.

June 13th, 2009 - 222.6 Getting a tad slower, but oh well, at least it's still going down and not up.

June 19th, 2009 - 219.6 That's three pounds down this week, FINALLY after being stuck for so long and seeing slow loss. I can celebrate the end of a plateau I painfully pushed through!

July 24th, 2009 - 213.4 Down it goes, down it goes.

August 29th, 2009 - 210 pounds, midway target!

Sept 25th, 2009 - 205 pounds

Skipped a few weeks - not of the diet itself, but maintained a bit to deal with stress issues. Still managed to lose a bt!

November 28th, 2009 - 198.8 I AM UNDER 200 POUNDS. I don't even remember being under 200 pounds. Hopefully, it stays under!

Weight-loss to date: 56.2

Mid-target: 210 pounds (-45 pounds) by the end of August (MADE IT, August 29th)

Next target: December 31st, 2009 - 190 pounds (-65 pounds overall)

 

I would love to do friday weighins...I work out 3-4 times a week and have been since september, but I didn't loose anything...but I did feel better.  so I started eating 1600 calories and I'm starting  to loose!!!!!
