I have a good question to start off the beauty forum......

I have very dry skin.  I need lotion that is NOT oil free.  I need to add as much oil as I can.  Anyone know of a good moisturizer that is more on the greasy side?

skin milk (yes that is the actual name) lotions are pretty good.

I've never heard of Skin Milk.  Do you know where it is sold?

If you are ready to try this, natural remedies works wonders. Although i have normal skin - i can feel the difference. Ony of my friends who has very dry skin put me up on this...

Papaya - acts as exfoliator

Honey - the best moisturiser u can find

Milk - cleanser and softening

Olive Oil - nuthing like it (can be used as massage oil, eye make up cleanser or in face packs)

Banana - again vit E and softening

Yoghurt - natural moisturiser

combinations - papaya+ honey; honey+milk; Banana+Yoghurt+olive oil; plain papaya, banana, milk and yoghurt work well too

If you could regularly use these before ur wash or shower - and i mean everyday (if possible even twice) - and follow it up with a Johnson and Johnson milk cream, you might be able to notice ur skin getting supple in a matter of weeks.

Anything that doesnt suit you, you would know it in the second use - so just take care in that. but i havent seen any of these harm me or my friend, or not read anyone complain abt these natural remedies. Google offers you quite a lot on these too :)

And oh, vaseline (that comes in small tubs) is quite greasy, if you want to try it.

Happy softening.

I had suggested to me to use the oil out of my Evening Primose Oil vitamins that I take. Because I have combination skin, oily and dry patches, its a bit difficult for me to do this but I heard its good and convenient. Just keep a jar of the capsules handy and use one as needed. The oil stays nice and fresh inside the capsule.

i was visiting a friend and took advantage of her expensive taste and used her kiehls face cream. it was amazing. within a week my skin looked glowing and younger and even my blemishes and red spots had gone away. it is pricey but you only need the tiniest bit and am guessing it would lasts many months. this is coming from a girl who usually uses extra virgin coconut oil or regular old lotion for the sake of finances. it truly is worth the money

i don't know if you're like me, but the skin on my face is VERY dry and very sensitive, to a point where I can't use face lotions because they burn and leave my face red and blotchy.  I've tried many different brands.  I mean, I can't even swim in pools sometimes because the chlorine burns my face too much.  I think the turning point was not my face lotion, but my cleanser.  i use dr andrew weil for origin's plantidote mega mushroom face cleanser from origins. it is very mild and doesn't dry skin out. although it doesn't get heavy makeup off, so you may need to remove makeup prior to using.  it leaves my skin pretty supple afterward unlike other face cleansers ive used.  I then dab some vaseline on my cheeks and around my nose because those areas tend to dry out the quickest (wipe off the excess that doesn't absorb after a few min with a washcloth so you don't look all greasy).  On top of that, i apply regular aveeno lotion because it is dye free and fragrance free and pretty mild but moisturizes for hours.  it doesn't leave skin looking oily, its just moisturizing.  aveeno is probably the best lotion ive used for body too.

I am someone who has dry, sensitive skin. It's true that a cleanser can dry out your skin. I've found that non-soap cleansers work really well followed by a lotion by that same brand to keep my skin from being too dry. I am price conscious so i like to use cetaphil, eucerin, or purpose (all available at a CVS or walgreens). They're all soap free and wallet friendly. It takes a while to get used to the fact that thesecleansers don't lather, but still clean. Also, all of these brands have facial moisturizers and face creams so if something isn't moisturizing enough you can try the cream instead.

If you want to splurge. Kiehls is very good. So is Arbonne.

In general for any lotions, facial or otherwise, stay away from anything with mineral oil or lanolin in it. These ingredients draw moisture out of your skin. They may feel good when you  first use them, but they do not work in the long run. This is especially pronounced in sensitive skin. (I've also heard this about petroleum, i.e. vaseline, but that was just hearsay.)

Clinique is a very good brand. My mom and me both use it. Also, Queen Helene Cocoa Butter (the plain kind without the added fragrance) that is at, like, the dollar store or Wal-Mart works well on my face.

Creme de la mer is a miracle cream...expensive but worth it..Go to the nordstrom counter for a sample, its definately worth trying

I would agree with Clinique, or try Dior HydrAction Hydra-Protective UV Milk with SPF. You can find them at Macy's in store or online or sephora stores or online

LA Mer La Mer La mer.. ridiculous price, but a worthy luxury.

If you have very dry skin, don't try packing it too much with oil. You don't want to suffocate it.

It sounds like you have a very sensitive skin and many mainstream products might be too strong or fragranced for you.

I would suggest using a milky cleanser and a moisturiser for sensitive skin. Depending on your budget there are different places you can shop. Boots (in the UK) is great because you can find brands like Lancome, Clarins as well as L'Oreal and No 7. Any of these are good, but perhaps try to get some advise from a sales assistant. Just remember how your skin feels to compare with the description of the products they suggest to see if they match up.

Try getting some samples or minis, they are a great way of trying new products. Good luck!

I'm looking for a new facial cleansing and moisturizing system myself...has anyone heard of or tried Aubrey Organics? Any recommendations?
