how do you keep faithful with portion control?
I just thought we needed a thread where we can post ideas on portion control. One thing i started today is I went out and bought a box of those snack size baggies. Then I cut up my cucumbers and portioned out one cup (which was CC portion size listed). I did all of the cucumbers at once so that when i want to snack on some I can just grab a baggie and know that i am getting the correct portion. I also did this with my carrot sticks, cherry tomatoes, and even my oyster crackers. I took the whole box dumped them on the table and my kids and I sat there and divided them into the proper portion. I figured this way i didnt have to count out 38 little crackers every time i want a snack. and at only 60 calories this is a better treat than pretzels or chips when i want something a little salty. They arent the best for me...but i dont want to quit so i am hoping to just occassionally allow it into my calorie count.
what else are you guys doing????

my husband is getting so tired of washing my measuring cups LOL the snack baggies are a great idea, I just tend to do it as I go. I just make sure that I measure everything. I am thinking that I want to swap out my scale to a digital one, I think it would be more accurate.
Hi
I got a Salter Electronic scale and I love it. It's easy to use and the control is accurate and it displays tons of information about the food your eating with a database of 40,000 items and you can even input your own recipies and calculate the calories. I highly recommend a good scale for the long run - you may also be suprised about how much MORE you can eat! ![]()
I love my measuring cups. I do the baggie thing too and make sure to measure everything. Seeing how much I should eat is teaching me what the sizes really are. I also have a scale but my FAVORITE thing right now is to make things in muffin tins.
I made turkey Meatloaf in muffin tins so I know exactly how much the portion size is every time no measuring or guessing.
We already had a good food scale, which is what I use for any protein, vegetables, etc. For things requiring volume measurements, I bought additional 1 cup as well as 1/2 cup tupperware containers. I bought a 4 pack of each, and when I'm putting away the leftovers, I'll set aside some serving sizes of them...1/2 cup of spaghetti sauce, 1 cup of rice, etc.
