Fake Cheese

Quote  |  Reply
Help me choose a fake cheese that doesnt gag me. I have tried a couple different ones and they are just nasty tasting. Im not expecting any of them tasting just like cheese but if you have some ideas to ones that maybe you use that dont taste half bad I would love to hear the names of them.

Thanks

I like Galaxy veggie cheese, it's lactose free and I think it taste pretty good:) I've only tried the mozzerella though.
i agree with caitbo--the galaxy brand is TASTY.
i agree!! i've tried the galaxy sliced pepper jack american cheese and provolone..  i dont even miss the real thing!!
I don't know if it's fake or not, but if you want little cheese bits try laughing cow baby bel or laughing cow swiss cheese wedges. They're SO tasty, and low calorie.
I agree with feddiechick those little laughing cow light swiss cheese wedges are to good. I have to keep reminding myself that it is okay to eat them..lol..

I was vegan for a while (not any more) and I found Follow Your heart Cheese.  I would put it on Pizza (It actully melts) and on vegie burgers ect..  I don't know that I would want to eat it with crackers, but it is very good.  It can be hard to find but my local Whole Foods had it.  You should definatly check it out.

I have been using a brand called "Melissa's Soy Slices".  The American flavor slices are really quite good and I use them on my Boca burgers and even in grilled cheese.  I haven't tried the other flavors because I didn't eat cheese much to begin with, just on burgers mostly.  I need to try one of those mozzarellas from previous posts because I like making pizza on flat out wraps and would like to try veggie cheese on that.
I eat the Gallaxt Veggie Slices and love them.  They come in a bunch of flavors - I like the smoked provolone (I think thats what its called) the best.

everyone kind of fake cheese i've ever tried = yuck.

why are you looking for a fake cheese?

vegan? lactose-intolerant? less calories/fat?

laughing cow is decent tastewise, but obviously not dairy-free.  personally, i would just stick to the cheese that makes you happiest and have it in moderation.

I like Laughing Cow Light Gourmet Cheese bites (7 calories a cube)

I also like Kraft fat free sharp cheddar singles (30 calories a slice)

And 60 calorie light string cheese is tasty, too.

Kraft grated Parmesan is nice, as well.

(But these aren't "fake cheese.")

=^..^= MOLLY

i usually eat reduced fat cheese. A lot of the fat free ones just tastes really weird to me. Plus they don't melt very well. But, I do like fat free shredded cheese (kraft free mozarella tastes good I think, but it does melt weirdly sometimes) I like sargento reduced fat cheeses for sliced cheeses. They're usually 50-60 calories for a slice (18-20ish grams I think) I also LOVE laughing cow cheese wedges (35 calories per wedge) for wheat thins or raw vegetables. The garlic and herb one is so good!
