Why isn't there rehab for smokers? I'm not talking like "smokers anon" but more like a place you can go detox under a dr's care, with lots of xanax or something.
Anyway I started my diet and quit smoking a week ago. Last week was pure hell, but it's getting better. I use the patch and a nicotine inhaler. It's still not enough! I broke down and bought a pack today.
It's SOOO hard. I quit hardcore drugs on my own years ago. I just can't seem to kick nicotine! My dr prescribed Wellbutrin, which is really the same thing as Chantix but I haven't picked it up yet because I already pay about $250 a month in co-pays for other meds. This one would add another $30 or $50 and takes a couple weeks to kick in.
well its a lot easer to quit smoking if you cut back slowly. and replace that voide ware you used to smoke with something else
The important thing is not to self abuse yourself for falling off the wagon. It happens to any addict. The real test is your determination to keep going. I had 3 falls from grace during my 6 month sobriety from smoking. I cherish every morning of that next day. It gave me the conviction and determination that what i was doing to myself was awful and that I had made the right decision to quit. I still consider myself a non smoker even though I smoked three different times in the last 6 months. I think you should too. Keep going with the momentum and write down why you felt the need to smoke. Mine was a heavy night of drinking with old friends, and a really bad and stressful breakup. Now i can identify my triggers and succeed in not focusing on my faults. Through this I am able to gain streght and confidnece in my sobriety.
Hope that was helpful! Never give yourself any excuse to smoke. Give yourself a reason not to.
Still going 6 months strong!!!
wellbutrin and chantix are not the same. whichever one you have an rx for....GET IT!!!! i used wellbutring to quit and my boyfriend used chantix. he only took his for one month and he has been absolutely quit for 1.5 years now...without any cheating. i have been quit for 3 years now.
whatever you do....JUST DON'T SMOKE!!! no matter how bad the day is going of how bad you feel, don't put a cig in your mouth and light it. even if you have to quit for 5 minutes at a time. it may sound harsh but the cigarette isn't gong to get smoked all by itself.
as far as the $$ goes for the rx, you spend more buying smokes. ITS REALLY WORTH IT!!!!
