I was married in April 08 and then had a child in august 08 and then in november my husband was diagnosed with cancer and has been in and out of the hospital ever since. thankfully we are hoping this is the last visit but the problem with me is that it is very hard to lose weight when you are taking care of someone in a hospital all day. the food is "grab what you can and eat" and there is very little activity to do. i worry about leaving my husband for long periods of time to workout and even beyond that i dont have a place or the money to exercise at. we take walks around the hospital but that is about it. and going out into the neighborhood is not an option either because it is a really unsafe area. so any thoughts or ideas on how to deal?
It sucks and it is not easy but the truth is now is when you need to eat healthy to feel better.
You have enough stress in your life without feelin gicky from not getting enough vegetables and dairy and all your body needs to feel better.
Check out your library they probably have videos to check out. Our library has exercise videos in their selections.
Stay strong and more importantly stay healthy your husband and your family deserve it!!
Sorry to hear that you and your family are going through this. How about using the stairs at the hospital? You can warm up with a short walk around the hospital grounds that you feel safe in, then find the stairs near the elevators. You can do sprints up and down. Then s-l-o-w-l-y do step-ups, taking the stairs two at a time. Find a chair for triceps dips, do push-ups, you can also use the chair for abdominal work by leaning back in the chair and raising your knees to your chest. Is there a way that you can pack food in your bag? Things like walnuts, almonds, energy bars, carrot sticks, peanut butter sandwich, bananas, apples, clementines, etc.? Just some ideas that may work for you or they may not be practical for your situation. Sun is right, though. YOU MUST keep yourself healthy for you, as well as your family. Good luck and I wish you and yours the best. It may seem overwhelming for you at the moment but it will pass and you will move on to the next step in your life. Stay strong.
