How far in advance do you plan your menu?

Quote  |  Reply

I'm doing my menu for the upcoming week right now. I do at least 3 to 4 days in advance, usually a week and sometimes up to 2 or 3 weeks at a time LOL. I really love getting into it, it's fun and it's so nice to not have to make last minute decisions.

How far ahead do you plan? Laughing

A week or two ... at least the fresh vegetable part of my meal-planning. Everything is finalized and logged for the next day before I go to bed each night.

=^..^= MOLLY

I normally don't plan too far ahead - maybe a day or two, but even then I'm flexible.

I plan out my meals for the day each morning during the week because I bring my lunch.  On weekends I don't plan at all.
Sometimes I plan a week ahead, sometimes I plan a day ahead, sometimes I plan an hour ahead, sometimes I plan a few minutes too late.
I only got to plan 1 day ahead last night, I was too tired lol. I'll do more tonight though. Smile
I actually never plan ahead, or maybe just one day ahead, but mostly I have bazillions of different veggies in my fridge and different meats in the freezer and so I make up as I go or what I feel like and start pulling out stuff.
I usually just plan a day or two ahead.
i dont really plan...i know how many calories goes in to what meal...so i count as  i go along. XD
i try to plan dinner in the morning.  if i get more ambitious than that, i'm likely to buy stuff i end up throwing out (or cook stuff i don't eat).  it's really important for me to have a dinner plan, though; otherwise i'm likely to stop on the way home and get pizza or chicken wings.

i always cooked for several meals, though; without leftovers, i'd starve!
I do about 1 week to a week and a half ahead, more for the sake of grocery shopping than for dieting reasons. Well, I plan dinners ahead that far. Breakfast and snacks are usually the same general things that I always have around, and lunch is usualy left overs fromt he night before or soup made of vegetables that were about to go bad. =)
I plan mine a week in advance, normally on a sunday, I have a little spreadsheet that tells me what I need for the next day, this way I dont cheat :)
i have a daily plan in terms of how many servings of fruit, veg, protein, starch and fat per meal. but im flexible each day with regards to what i actually eat.. but i eat the same breakfast each day, im such a loser! :)
I plan a week of dinner at the beginning of the week but not the exact night. My breakfast, lunch, and snacks are planned the night before so I can pack everything, then dinner is usually picked off the list in the afternoon.
i get ideas in my head for the upcoming 1-2 weeks while i'm grocery shopping so i'll know what to buy. so i'll buy enough so i can have options the night before. i plan my meals the night before, but out of the food i already purchased with those meals in mind. does that make sense?
I plan for the next hour...haha! Don't you think going too far ahead would make you really irritable if they were messed up, as in an impromptu get-together with friends? It'd just make you really inflexible, I think...and kind of time-consuming.
