How far along are you on your weight loss journey?
First I would like to say hello.. I am new.. *waves* ![]()
I am currently in phase two of my weight loss journey.. I started July 15, 2007 and have committed to two years of healthy weight loss.
I started at 278 (at 5'7" eeeeeek) and am now 210. I did take a few months off around winter and only lost like 1-2 pounds a month for about 3 months or so.. but at least i didn't blow my diet or gain any weight.. I am hoping to be between 130 and 140 by next July.
I started off wearing a women's size 22 pant and am now down to 14-15-16 depending on the store..
It's been an interesting journey to say the least.. reflecting back I am so very proud of my accomplishment. It didn't take me long to form healthy eating habits and I am constantly researching food and exercise and so my knowledge base is constantly evolving.
I am happy to be over the hump of the initial beginning.. how many times did i try to diet and it only lasted a few weeks before I was ready to throw in the towel.. but i worked hard and stayed committed.
How far along are you on your journey?
First I'd like to welcome you to calorie count. WELCOME!
At my heaviest I weighed 215lbs and I am 5'4.5" tall. It took me a little less than a year to lose 60lbs. I weighed 140lbs at my lowest but it was very difficult to maintain. I couldn't eat any sort of treats which was miserable. So instead I choose 145-150 as my perfect weight. At this weight I look about 130lbs and I'm a solid size 8 [I distribute my weight very evenly]
Because my entire family struggles with addictions [mostly food or drugs, on both sides of my family], my journey will never end. I weighed 215lbs because I turned to food during a very difficult time in my life. I expect to struggle with my weight for the rest of my life because I have this chemical connection with feelings and food. I'm just glad that I learned at a young age [15] the keys to losing and maintaining a healthy weight.
Currently I weigh 160lbs and I'm 18 years old. I gained 15lbs during my first year at college [freshmen 15!]. I joined Calorie Count to begin losing the excess weight and get back down to 150-145.
I am VERY happy at this weight although BMI's say I'm on the line between overweight and normal.
I think as long as you feel comfortable in your own skin and your weight isn't causing any health problems then you shouldn't worry about how much you weigh. It isn't about your weight. It's about how you feel and I feel AWESOME at 150lbs so that's my goal: to feel awesome!

It's really nice to see people with such realistic goals as yourself! Congrats for your achievements. Your story is very inspiring and makes me feel really good about my own goals. I often read posts here about people my height (5'1) who's goals are a good 10-15 pounds lower than mine (120) and at times it makes me doubt my own goals. However, after reading your post it has helped me realise that as long as I feel good, that's what counts!!! Best of luck to you!!!![]()
Welcome! I'm 5'3 and started at 160 april 12 2008. I have lost 23lbs. My desired weight is 115. I'm very proud of my acomplishments because somedays it's just hard to keep up with diet and exercise.
Ocean, I am 5'7" and currently at 212#!
I started on CC at the end of April, but didn't do anything but browse the forums for a while. When I finally got serious about making a lifestyle change in June I weighed 231#.
My current goal is to get down to 200#. After that I will set a new goal (probably 170) and see how it goes from there. My doctor says that I should be around 145-150 to be at a healthy BMI for my height and frame size.
I don't ever remember being below 170ish though, so I've no idea what weight I'll actually feel good and be happy at. So I guess I'll just find out when I get there!
Hello, I'm 5'6" I started my weight loss on April 14, 2008 at 302lbs. As of today I'm 254 and would like to get down to 140lbs. 48lbs lost and 114lbs to go, so I have a long way to go but I'm hanging in there.
Welcome. This is such a wonderful and helpful site. I find it to be pivotal to my weightloss. Speaking of which I am proud to say I am right past my half way point. I am 5'7'' and started at 204 in April. I am now at 171 and my goal is 140. I don't have a specific date set for that goal. When I get there I get there. Good luck and strong will to you and your weight loss.
i just finished today! WooHoo!!! :D i started on 9/4, 5'7" and 218. today i'm 134.
hang in there... it'll happen!

oh wow Duke, GO YOU!!! I vote for you to do the new Subways commercials hehe
But in all seriousness that is an amazing accomplishment and Congats to you!!!
First of all congrats to you on your weight loss strobr, but more importantly congrats on realizing how to maintain a healthy lifestyle!
I am the exact opposite, I turned to not eating in order to cope with stress and difficult times in my life. I was down at 60lbs, and I have clawed my way up to 110-115 lbs at a height of 5'6. It has been a long battle, but I now wear a size 1/2 in ADULT CLOTHES, as opposed to a size 8 kids.
Regaining your life is such a wonderful feeling, isn't it?
I've lost a little over 100 lbs. Just gotta drop my BF% a little more at this point.
I'm 6' tall currently weighing 173ish. I 'm gonna see what kind of results are yielded from another 5 pound drop 'cause I'm still pretty flabby.
3/4 there... 64lbs gone (265 down to 201), and 21 to go. I'm not trying to be 'thin' or even at the suggested 'healthy weight' - I expect I'll be perfectly happy at 180lbs rather than 150... I'm 5'6" tall and 37 years old, not a teenager.
hello everyone and may I say WOW!
Congratulations to all of you!I am happy to see some real warriors in here!(Not just the wow I lost 5 pounds so now I went from skinny to anorexic skinny!I am sorry to be this blunt but overweight is not something to be taken for granted and sometimes vanity takes you there)Anyway I am 22,5'7 and currently 186lbs.I started at 212lbs on the 6th of may 2008.I have been emotionally struggling with eating so than came the weight gain.Food was my ultimate "happy place" and also that made me hate myself the most.I feel that is over, but also that I am not healthy long enough to consider it final.I am hopefull though:)I would love to get down to 121-125.But with a muscled, toned figure.I wear my weight everywhere so my upper body and arms arent really feminine at this point:( I started to sport like 6 weeks ago and 1 month into my new lifestyle.Grouplessons and cardio 5 times a week, sometimes 2 times per day.I just love these lessons and my job and lifestyle atm allows me to focus on such a schedule. My weightloss stopped when I started to sport and I am plateuing atm.It is frustrating but I learned the longer it takes to lose it the longer it stays off.I loose hope every now and than but I decided not to weight in only every 2 weeks.Well I am happy to see soooo many succes stories and I wish you all the best of luck!
Hi and welcome. Good for you on your commitment and weight loss goal. You are doing it right. Slow and steady. Don't think of it as a diet. Think of it as a lifestyle change. Something you can continue forever.
I practice what is called clean eating. Google it and you will find ton's of good information. Here are just a few sites if you are interested.
I am at my goal weight but it was a slow, steady process of change. Diet's don't work. Eating a healthy, well balanced diet does. And exercise. Vigorous anaerobic and aerobic activity's and strength training. Get both, eat clean and you will see the results.
Sprintiing is the best exercise I have found. Amazing results.
Keep up the good work girl!!!

I started CalorieCount last May at 206 pounds. I had struggled with years of yo-yo dieting and had developed an unhealthy relationship with food - I would binge, starve, take laxatives, and purge. I decided that it was time to put my health before losing weight and became determined to get healthier. Since then, I started to eat more balanced meals and more often as well. By eating nutritiously and making sure I've been eating enough, I've managed to get down to 135 pounds :]. I'm still trying to lose a bit more weight, but I've become a lot more comfortable in my own skin and a lot less focused on the number on the scale.
