Fast Food, Anyone? [:

Quote  |  Reply

Believe me, it doesn't always have to be unhealthy!

Here's what I usually get:

Mcdonalds:

Grilled honey mustard snack wrap- 260 (cals)

Side salad- 20

Low fat balsamic vinaigrette- 40

Fruit and yogurt parfait (w/granola)- 160

WATER [:

Total: 480

Subway (Eat fresh!):

6" Veggie delight (on italian bread)- 230

American cheese- 40

Fat free sweet onion sauce- 40

Baked lays chips- 130

Total: 440

Dannon light and fit yogurt- 80 (sometimes i like to substitue the chips for a yogurt)

Total (same meal but with yogurt)- 390

And they're both under 500 cals! That means that you may even have enough calories to spare to get one of subway's amazing oatmeal raison cookies!

Here's your chance to post what you usually eat at fast food restaurants to stay fit, or maybe just get some quick tips!  Enjoy!

it seems most big chains list the nutritional values on the net, so you can check before a visit to town, and know what you are going to order, and go in and order with confidence in what you are eating.

i aven't eaten at a fast food place for a while, but when i next go, i will be treating myself to the mcdonalds special cadburys caramel milkshake. 220 cals. Tongue out

Eh. I think I'd rather just eat what I want and make room for it in the day/eat healthy the next day. Sometimes I just need a greasy burger :P

Wow, thanks for posting this! I am really busy most of the time and on the run. Used to stop at fast food places but stopped due to high cals. This gives a good bit of info and the links posted are great too. It is possible to get fast food that is not totally blowing my cal budget

For anyone who hasent picked up a copy of Eat This, Not That! I highly suggest you do. :D It tells you what foods you should completely avoid at all costs and a substitue you can have at the same place for lower calories. I personally think its great.

But for the fast food, I decided to plan out my meals if I ever do go out to eat with friends so I don't have a calorie scare when I get home. I have a bunch of notes that I keep in my head just in case. xD Everything from wendys, Chick fila (Who knew every sandwich there was under 500 calories? :D) cold stone ect.

tini- i agree that sometimes a greasy burger is all that will do the job!! and if you can make allowance for it, thats great. Some days i do this Smile

other days, i'd rather plan ... so i can use the links. Either or!!

maryann - a thought - write on a scrap of paper a list of all the things you are likely to choose when going to a fast food place, and keep it in your purse. that way, you are never caught short when a friend springs the line ' i really fancy a mcdonalds for dinner'!!! a discrete check on the paper, and you can order with confidence, and enjoy the extra calories, and not spend the whole meal wondering how many are in there!!
