Hey everyone.... occassionally I'm out with the kids and we might need to grab a meal on the go. What does everyone do when this happens? What fast food places have you found that have good tasty healthy options? And what options are they? I'd like to have something to keep in mind for the next time we're in a pinch and I have to grab something on the go... thanks!!
I know a lot of fast food places are coming up with a healthier breakfast menu like Dunkin D and Micky D's Egg McMuffin is under 300 calories but I haven't seen them improve lunch/dinner too much beyond a salad and watch the dressing! If I know i am going to grab some fast food for whatever reason, I really watch my calories throught the day and order a kids meal vs a regular meal to help with portion control! Hope the helps! If any other members have suggestions, please post! :)
Yeah, and I'm usually not too big on fast food salads. At Wendy's I like to get a small cup of chili. I just looked it up and that is 190 calories with 14 grams of protein, 6g fat and 19g of carbs. That is still an awesome option. And they have all kinds of nutritious options as well. Like Mandarin Oranges - I love those! And that's only 80 calories.
It has been a while since I've went to a fast food joint. But I used to go to taco bell and if it was just me going I would get either one hard shell taco (150 calories) or I used to like the cheesy gordita crunch, which I would just get one of depending on what I ate that day. (They have 550 Calories, I know bad...but a pleasure food every now and then.) And if I ever go to McDonalds I only order one cheeseburger, no fries, no drink. (110 Calories if I remember correctly, you can find the calories on the wrapper.) I usually have a bottle of water in my car for when I go to the gym or just am thursty. If i'm out and want a salad, I'll go to Wawa and make up my own. I never tried Wendy's chili, but i'm not a fan of Wendys food. I don't mind some of Sonic's food, but don't know the calories for the food off hand, but they are on this site and they have some alright choices too. I don't have kids to worry about though, so I would say pick a place you and the kids like, then either look on the wrappers for food stats, or check up on here and find out which food you'll like but wont mess up your diet. I always have fruit at home that I'll eat so unless I'm at a restrant that serves fruit or something I usually will eat that at home.
