Too Fast?
Hey peoples, I'm 14 and 5'6'', i'm just wondering if i'm losing weight too fast. I was at 166.5 three days ago, and now i'm at 164.5. Is that way too fast? I feel like I should be going slower!
Fluctuations in weight can be attributed to several things, the foremost being water. I'd say that if you're maintaining a deficit of 500-1000 calories a day, than it is probably not too fast =). (Of course, don't go below the minimums)
hey thanks, i forgot about the whole water thing! yeah i'm maintaining about a 500 calorie deficit, thanks for the help!
Hi! :)
I looked at your profile and noticed that you're relatively new to CC. Welcome :) When you first start dieting (I'm assuming that's the case here, given your circumstances), you will see a big drop for the first week or two. I have my weight log graph in my profile if you want to see - I lost a good 8-10lbs in just a few weeks. A lot of it at the beginning will be water weight...
Don't let that discourage you! :) Just keep sticking with it and those numbers will keep peeling off. Right now your metabolism is high high high because your body is used to getting more food from not having been on a diet before you started this.
(I'll use #'s from my case, since IDK yours)
I was eating around 2500cal/day before I started CC at over 150lbs (5'5'', age 19 when I began). I took my intake down to 1300 and BAM - it just started falling off. My body wasn't processing that whole 2500cal/day, I'm sure - I was still gaining when I caught myself. It was easily burning up 2000/day though. Which meant that I was getting a 700cal/day loss! As you continue your diet, the amount your body subsists on will come down, partly because it gets used to having less food and partly because you will weigh less. When you weigh less, you burn less calories moving a smaller body around than a big one.
But for now, enjoy the change, and be grateful for it! Stay motivated even when it slows down and keep pushing! I'm only 3.5lbs away from my goal now, and I never had a diet last more than 2 weeks before CC! It's a fantastic tool! :D
It's good to see young people approach weight loss in a healthy way. When I was 14, I would have been happy to lose 2 lbs in 3 days.. now I know better.
I see so many posts from younger people who are just trying to lose weight as fast as they can. I wouldn't worry about the sudden drop. Everyone's body fluctuates day to day, and hharris9 is right.. you will lose a lot at first, but it will eventually slow down.
Congrats on choosing the right path. Slow and steady wins the race! (hence the turtle in my profile. heh)
