I came into work just now and another staff member brought everyone sausage egg, cheese breakfast burritos.

We tend to bring each other breakfasts about once a month on Fridays. I've just started CC, so I've never had to 'bow' out of breakfast. What do I do? It's about 8 oz of pure calories.

This burrito was bought specifically for me, meaning he bought one for each person in thsi dept. I don't want to offend...but....

Just help me!!

And I wanted to add that I haven't eaten my breakfast yet, which I brought with me..a banana and an apple.

enjoy the breakfast burrito!  i love them :-)

even if it's full of calories, maybe just have half and save the otehr half for lunch or something.

try and just make the rest of your day lighter. and if not, then you'll make it up by eating ligher on another day or working out extra time today or tomorrow.  it'll be okay :-)

I agree with lily... eat half and maybe have the banana with it too so you're full and don't want the other half of the burrito. If it were me, I'd eat half and chuck the rest when they weren't looking. Then get a good workout tonight!

Ok thanks! I hate half of the burrito. It was yum!

Now to figure out how to register on my food log. The portion was the size of my fist and had sausage, egg and cheese with white tortilla. Suggestions?

If only those were egg whites!

edit-Yeah, um that was supposed to be "i ATE half" not I hate half. lol. Sorry, I was frantic on the decision!

I am really glad you enjoyed your burrito and had the willpower to stop at half!!  Good job!

One thought, though --- eventually you are going to have to "come out" to the people you work with or you will be stuck eating treats you don't really want forever.  Maybe you aren't ready yet, but don't wait forever.  Eating a burrito (even half) JUST because it was there and you felt guilty is potentially setting a bad precedent.  You don't want to give yourself any opportunity or excuse to fail, and laying the blame on coworkers is just too convenient and easy.

I hope you don't fret about the burrito, though.  I bet it was delicious and totally worth it!  (also, I can't give you definitive help on the burrito, as I don't eat egg, sausage, or cheese so I'm not super familiar with their calories, but I would guess maybe 1/2 of a full-sized breakfast burrito would be 320-360 cals??)

where did the burrito come from? check the restaurant food site for correct calorie info on your burrito. thats what i do. sometimes my dh surprises me with taco bell or something and i always check the website for calorie info. good luck! :)

I agree with Pumpkin.  You should put the word out to your coworkers that you're really trying to eat healthier and hope that they'll support you in your efforts.  There's really no shame in that.  Maybe people will join you for a healthy lifestyle!

So, what will you bring when its your turn?

This morning one of my coworkers called my desk and said "Hey, we have biscuits and gravy back here, you want some?" And I said "No thank you, Faye, I'm dieting". Her response was "I knew that, but I just wanted to make sure you wanted or didn't want them before I came barging into your office with a plate of 'em!" Which was AWESOME of her. I'm very fortunate to work with women who aren't catty about weight loss. :) It's ok to make sure you mention your diet and stick with it, no matter what. Today, I accompanied a coworker to lunch at a fried chicken dive here, and she ordered her fried food basket and french fries and a big old coca cola. I enjoyed the company and conversation and ate a bowl of turkey chili and 2 cups of green beans: the lunch I had brought for myself this morning.

It's really all about will power and making sure that people understand that you are on a mission for YOU. We all have our slip ups and we SHOULD allow ourselves little food pleasures occasionally, just be sure to do it in moderation and make up for it by burning off those extra calories or taking in less in response.

Good luck! You're doing great. Props on the willpower to only eat half!

It's easy for me to pass on food brought to work...cuz you know someone is always bringing Krispy Kreme, biscuits etc.

But this particular day, the burritos were specifically bought for each person in the department, so I felt kind of bad. It was from a deli, not from anything I can search on the forum for calorie count.

My dept also, is mostly a group of guys and I didn't feel up to sharing that I was 'dieting'. Women..I don't mind so much sharing.

I think next time I will say thanks, but no thanks because I already had breakfast. But then these guys are crazy and they will want to know what I had for breakfast. ....

Ok yeah, I will just take the offered item, hide it and give it to someone else later on. :-)

most fast food places have the nutrtional value on their items, which you can find on line.  to me, the high calories in fast food just aren't worth consuming, but like everyone said, you can eat half and probably be satisfied.
