You are fast, like a Gazelle...

I am going to start using Tony Little's Gazelle and I was wondering what I should log that in my activity log under?  Any ideas?

I think the closest would be Elliptical at light effort.

Thanks!  That's what I was thinking, but I wasn't too sure what exactly Eliptical was.

It's a more expensive cardio machine that is similar to the gazelle, but with more options that help you get a harder workout. I think this should be good enough to start with though. Have fun!

I got through my first day and did pretty well (other than the annoying squeak!), but when I went to log the activity, it said I burned 419 cals (45 minutes, light effort)!!  Is this possible?  I don't mean to complain at all, but I want to make sure I am not fooling myself and overeat because I think I am burning this amount.

Well, you probably expended more calories than you would have if you'd spent the same time vacuuming, wouldn't you say? At least, I assume you got more of a workout using the Gazelle than you would doing random housework; otherwise what would be the point?

I'm sure I did, melkor.  I guess I will keep my calories at about the same as I have the last few weeks and take the extra deficit if there is any!

Thanks!

I used a Gazelle once several years back.  Granted, I was in far worse shape than I am now - about 80 lbs heavier, not doing much exercise, if any...

anyway, I did it for about 20 minutes and it felt pretty easy but then the next day my muscles were really sore so I know I was getting a better workout than I realized.

I thought I was in pretty decent shape now, having lost a lot of weight, I've been jogging for about 3 years now, I was doing Curves Smart for about 4 months but I wasn't getting the results I expected (or any) so I recently joined a gym and boy!  Is it kicking my butt!  I've been doing a "warm up" on the eliptical (quoted because I spend about 25 minutes on it) at level 1 and go at about a 11-13.5 minute mile and I am drenched in sweat afterwards!
