how fast do you run?

Quote  |  Reply
I'm training myself to learn how to run- currently I am most comfortable around 5.5mph- I can run at 6 for a couple minutes but tire rather quickly.  Will this get better as I run more?  How fast does the average jogger/runner go?  Also- is it true if I spend a lot of time on the treadmill that I will lose muscle mass? augh!

the speed you are running at right now is great....and yes you will eventually be able to run longer at 6mph without tiring too fast. Im 16, male, 140lbs, and i run at 6mph and sometimes 7mph when i feel motivated =P Well....as long as you incorporate some weight lifting 3x a week (different days that your cardio) you're basically guaranteed to not lose muscle mass.
Yes, it will get better as you run more.

There is no real "average" jogger/runner. Paces are all over the map, depending upon size, body type, experience, and recent training volume.

The important thing is that you're moving, and you're having fun.
