Fast weight loss - chest pains/heart skipping
So I got triggered over something on Sunday and as of today weigh 5 lbs less (i'm still normal weight though). I am going back on my meal plan, but I was noticing something that I only noticed with purging before - mainly pains in the left side of my chest, and a feeling as though my heart is skipping beats or beating twice in a row - just beating funny. I am seeing a doctor next Tuesday because I'm having a procedure done, but I have never seen him before and don't want to get into the whole story. So far this morning, it hasn't happened, and I'm just wondering if there's a medical reason for this, and if I go back on my meal plan, will it stop happening?
Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Palpitations or arrhythmia are fairly common. However, if there's chest-pain involved you should see a doctor immediately. When you do see the doctor, you really must tell them the 'whole story'... otherwise how is the poor man going to give you anything approaching a correct diagnosis or treatment?
Purging is really damaging to heart muscle, i don't know why but it is. Anyway if you're going to the doctor for a procedure you MUST tell him everything. Critical adjustments may need to be made in order to keep you safe.
Thanks for the replies. I can't get in to see the doctor any sooner; they're completely slammed right now which apparently is common in December and they gave me the earliest time he had. I will be sure to mention it to him though and my history. In the mean time I'm going back on my meal plan. I'm also seeing my nutritionist today and I'll ask her about it. I'm hoping it's nothing.
It's very good you're going to see the doctor. Yes, def tell him/her everything~that's what they get paid for, to help you with your health. It really depends on what your diet is as to whether or not it will make a difference, but you are seeing a nutritionist, so it's not like they would steer you onto a dangerous path. It is a good idea to get bloodwork done when you see your Dr. (which should be part of your pre-procedure work up anyway).
Have you been under stress lately? It could be something as simple as too much stress, which can cause palpitations and, at times, chest pains. Either way, it's great that you're getting checked out.
Good luck!
