Does faster Heart Beat Rate = faster Metabolism?

Just curious, coz they say that when you excercise you not only burn calories during excercise but still burn during the day.  How is this so?

I don't know about the heart rate, but excercise gets your body going. If it keeps up all day, I don't know....
No, Faster Heart Rate does not equal faster metabolism.

My reasoning is that athletes have slower heart resting heart rates, but faster metabolism.

However, during exercise, the best way to burn calories is to stay within your training range, so going over is no good.

So, I suppose if your question is "If I contunually am 'exercising' in some way, shape, or form, will I burn more calories", then the answer is yes.

Otherwise, I would think the answer is no, but I could be wrong.
Not exactly...  You will, however, obtain a faster metabolism if you consistently keep your heart rate up within a "cardiovascular workout" range.  In the long run, your heart rate will actually slow down much more quickly, which means your heart is stronger and you will be able to do more.
