I started last week but only made it to 3 days before i was dragged out to dinner by friends and i got derailed. Im back on it again and feel great. Its pretty drastic but i had been eating very healthy and excerising daily with no change, 2 month platue meant i needed drastic action. Ive lost 3lbs in 2 days and i lost 3lbs last week. It isnt water loss as my scales show body compostion (muscle, fat and water) and its showing as fat loss. The weight has come off everywhere as all my clothes and losser and neater, so it not just me being 'cleared out'.
Im feeling great and not hungry or shaky etc as you can constantly drink so your sugar levels remain consistant. Ive even been fine to go to the gym evreyday. One slip last night i had a glass of wine as i was out and couldnt avoid it, yet this morning id still lost.
Im not sure ill make 10 days as suggested but im certainly not giving up until saturday. I may make this a diet mon-fri and then eat healthy sat+sun. Ive lost 6lbs so far and hope to do another 11lbs.
Id say if youve reached a platue and you really need the scales to drop to motivate you agin then give it ago. I was getting so upset that all my hard work was resulting in nothing. Now i wake up in the morning to flat stomach and i cant wait to weigh myself, as i know the numbers are dropping realtively fast.
Google Lemonade fast or Miracle Clease. It is supposed to be a detox not a diet but the results are fab. Im not doing the salt water flush, salt water made me gag and im not that desperate.
To make it easy im making a 2 litre bottle up in the morning/night before so i can sip on it all day.
1.5l water
4x lemons squeezed (not pre bottled)
125ml maple syrup (should be grade B, not corn syrup or other immitation maple)
pinch of Caynne pepper (dont use to much it will make you gag)
The mixture should taste like lemonade but not sweet. You can add a little more water if you want it weaker. Make sure you spread it evenly throughout the day to keep your sugar levels consistant then you shouldnt have any side effects.
Good luck email me if you want any more info.
PS i have no willpower and i love food so if i can do it for a few days im sure youll be ok

I have been on a plateau for weeks. If I fast for one day, will that jog my body out of the lull? By fasting, I mean juice, water maybe some fruit.
Fasting to lose weight is pretty much pointless. You're almost guaranteed to gain back any weight you lost as soon as you start eating food again.
DM84 - thanks for the advice and thank you for caring, but arent you on here eating 4000+ cals a day trying to gain muscle? Surely this proves everyones body is different and sometimes we need to wake our bodies up and make them co-oporate.
I know you can fast with juice and just fruit and veg but i dont think thats fasting really. From my little experience i would defiantely suggets a few days to anyone who needs to kick start the scales again.
No I'm not eating 4,000 a day. I'm eating closer to 2,700-3,000 most of the time.
But don't forget a year ago I was losing weight, and one thing I didn't do was fast to break a plateau.
I went to the doctor upset that i had been eating 1600ish cals, hard core gym everyday and yet i couldnt lose the 6lbs i gained over summer. I did excately what the doctor and everyone on here suggested, i took a few days off the gym and ate more, result by the end of the week i gained another few lbs which even when i started back at the gym didnt shift.
Decided enough was enough, i did the fast for 3 days lost a few lbs and felt great. I started again this week and still feel great. I dont think ill manage to do 10 days as i dont have that kind of will power, ive got dinners booked over the weekend, but im happy to give this a chance.
My suugest is give it a go for 2-3 days and see how it works for you. If you just lose those few lbs it may get your body moving again. If it doesnt work you know youve tried and you can try something else.
If anyone else has managed to break a platue im sure MrsJ would love the advice, but please dont knock what im doing and spout 2nd hand information which you havent yourself tried.
MrsJ- check all the sites on google theres a few blogs. Some people take it very seriously with daily salt flushes and 10+ days but i think work with whatever suits you.
I've tried fasting and cleansing in the past, and it never works for long. The results are temporary. I have nothing much to add to what others have said, so I'll just contribute some links to articles in the CC+ Library.
Top 10 Ways to Fail at Weigh Loss
Before, I was going to the gym WAY too much, multiple spinning classes a day, multiples gym sessions a week (sometimes 2 times a day) and almsot no food (less than 1100 cals a day) once i started bikram i lost another 10 pounds and now im eating normally aagain, well normal for me, but i only eat fruits and veggies and some meat when my mother and boyfriend bitch I only eat "ruffage"
Every now and then ill go back to the gym, but thats cause i LOVE the feeling of working out!!
Try Bikram guys, its awesome, and it helped me thorugh issues as well as a plateu!
I guess using the word "fast" was a misnomer. I guess I really meant minimal calories for one or two days...lots of water, juice, fruit. Not a long term thing, either.
Thanks, though, for everyone's input! Today wasn't the day to do it...visited my daughter at college and ate at the cafeteria...that was tough! Too many choices...didn't think it through as I made my choices. Tomorrow may be a good day to "minimally eat".
fruits and veggies.. MORE MINERALS and MORE VITAMINS.... lesser calories.
everything else has more calories, lesser minerals n' vitamins.
stick with this and you'll start to feel rather weird.... then flu like yet great then after that detox period wavers off and YOU are STILL on that regiment then.... you'll be well on your way to keeping off the weight and piling on the elements you need to stay alive.. let alone feel and look terrific.
i did that.. first week was "oh ugh.. i'm dying!" second week was... "i better be careful.. activities make me wobble.." 3rd was... "hum.. i just sweated alot.. but i feel light as a feather and i haven't felt like this since i was a kid!" now i'm... "yeh yeh that's normal... nothing to it..."
in short... i'm a vegetarian... (no i don't push it on anyone other than.. eat more greens.. rich veggies.. pile on some fruit.. forget those chips and dip.. no minerals for you! you finish your plate of veggies and you can have a beer!) and i'm happy... of course i have issues with gerd and every time i ate processed foods... meats... dairy especially, wow i was in a horrible state.
if one is to eat meats... keep it butcher fresh... chicken breasts and lean beef... nothing else.. the rest of that stuff is garbage.. no frozen stuff.. no canned.. yuck.. no bags of chips or other neat things.. all chemicals.. no nutrition, all empty calories, and alot of them to boot.
:D
keep it fresh and you won't feel stale.
