I've finally been able to get my dog down a few lbs!!  YAY!!  a few lbs doesn't sound like much... but for a doggeh, it's pretty good.

awww... I love her!!

she's almost at her "goal" weight  ;)

should I create a CC account for her?

*wonders if the food-log thingy has any dog foods listed*

actually... she doesn't eat much kibble anymore (but from time to time I'll mix a tiny amount into her food).  I've been cooking her food for her in the crock pot for several months now (lots of veggies too).  she's eating a little more and a little more frequently, but it's working... AND she loves it!!

if I could speak/understand 'dog' she'd say.. "Mmmm... people food ROCK!"

I just wanted to share.  I'm a proud momma right now  ;)

Aw. I wish I could have gotten my dog to lose weight. Till his dying day he looked like he had just swallowed a beach ball.

that was the cutest thing I have read all day.

I love fat dogs though, actually, I think I love fat dogs more then skinny ones

:)  cute

Good for you and your doggy!  People need to be careful of their pets, too.  When I married my hubby his female, spayed dog was overweight.  After I took over cooking (mostly) he (hubby) lost 25 lbs and doggy lost to her ideal weight, too.  I ration her food and allow only bits of people food as treats.  I used to cook for my dogs when I was on the ranch and raised my own beef.   Great that you are doing that for your doggy.

Pet her for me!

Well done you! The easiest thing is to 'just' feed your dog the amount of food they need to maintain their ideal weight.

All three of my babies have lost weight over the last year with this method, My male Border Collie Jed has reduced his weight from 35kg to 26kg, my female Collie Cross Sophie has come down from 24Kg to 15kg and the Labrador we rescued in Feb this year starte dat 37kg and is now 29Kg.

Also I have had to reduce the 'extras' they were getting, i  used to give them a Boneo biscuit every morning aftertheir walk until the Vet pointed out that this one 'treat' represented 20% of the smallest dog's daily calorific requirement!!!

Now if only I could find a kind owner to take charge of my meals and weight reduction!!!!!

I've actually had my cat on a diet for the past two weeks. She's severely obese. I've always just filled my cats bowl once a day and left it at that. I never knew what I was doing. I was actually feeding her almost 3x the amount of calories she should be consuming. I never weighed her but I can definitely tell she's lost weight already. If only I could get her to eat canned food. Now I feel so horrible knowing what I've done to her.

GREAT title! Got my attention but then I'm in a grumpy mood and thought someone else might be cranky too. I'm glad for your sake you aren't though!

LOL

I have been told to watch my pooch doesn't put on weight after her op i do feel for her when i put her rations into her bowl it looks so meagre but she seem to be surviving on it ok.

My dog's weight has gone up and down most of his life. Right now he is overweight but since he is dying, and he's content (he's not obese, he's just got some meat on him), I decided to let it be. Prior to the cancer discovery, he was on a diet and lost 2 pounds. He's been maintaining 37-38 pounds ever since (he should be 30 pounds). If he starts to lose weight I'll know why, right now I think I prefer him a bit plump.

cptbunny, that's so sad, I'm sure that having a little extra meat in his bones will help. I'm very sad for you and your dog x
