yes, nuts are very healthy fats. everyone always thinks they are so high in protein though, but my nutritionist said that they are conisdered way more of a fat group than in the protein group if u need protein go for lean meats, or milk
walnuts are my choice du jour because of the omega 3 and I'm sure there good for other things,
Nuts provide some of the healthiest fats out there. I get almost all of my fats from nuts, yum!

Although nuts aren't all that high in protein. Sure it's great to add some almonds to a smoothie or your cereal to boost the protein, but they aren't a great source. Try eating more lean meats, lowfat dairy, and eggs.
Check out black beans for some good protein too.  I think about 13g a serving.  And of course a regular old can of tuna has over 30g!  I eat a ton of nuts (man that sounds bad).  Almonds, cashews, walnuts, sunflower seeds and the like.  To my knowledge they are all healthy fats.
Regarding calorie dense foods to gain weight, nuts were a really great choice.

Are the fats bad - no, they are fats and the good ones.  Most foods cant say that.

Another calorie dense food to consider is beans and they are good are high protien too.  My preference is black beans but there are so many too choose from.
remember that nuts arent a complete protein source...i like pistachios, almonds, peanuts and cashews personally...

Get complete proteins from some grains too like quinoa, buckwheat, amaranth...
