Hey Everyone!

I've got an ODD question and want to see if anyone else has this same problem.

I find that after I do my 45mins or so of running that for the rest of that day I feel fat (and look alot puffier around the middle!)

I used to think it was just odd and wrote it off, but now its happening everytime I workout. My jeans that will fit me before a workout wont fit me after.

Anyone else experience this? Or am I just weird?! hahaha

thanks!

I get this too sometimes. I have been told by other people, and believe it as well now, that exercises causes water retention and swelling of your muscles.

I took 2 weeks off from exercising in February when I had my wisom teeth removed, and it was obvious that my stomach was a lot flatter. After realizing my kozyshack pudding and Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream diet could not be the cause of this, I did research and found out what I just told you about water retention.

It's true about the muscle swelling - that's why bodybuilders work out loads before taking pictures - makes em look puffier ;p

a factor that can increase the said water retention is your sodium intake. sodium intake in general causes water retention. the effects of this are magnified when you do intense exercise.

also, how much water are you drinking? i'm a runner and a fan of hydration, but know that many people tend to drink too much water when they run. at most races, they have water stops about every 2 miles. and then, the cups are only contain a few onces of water. thats about how much water you need. i am including a link to an article about water consumption and marathoning for you to look at if you are curious.

I am chiming in too with the muscles retaining water.  I can't even get my rings off after I work out and my socks are tight.  I drink water afterward and a little while later I'm all good.

This happens to me too. Especially in the abdomen. Makes me look like I have a big potbelly. It is always gone the next morning so it must be water retention.

Happens to me most of the time...nothing to worry about.
