fat free/sugar free/cal free dressing/???

Quote  |  Reply
Heyy I was wondering what the deal is with far free/sugar free/calorie free dressings? I have bought Fat Free/calorie free/Sugar Free Dressing from "WaldenFarms" Company. It has 0 fat, 0 carbs, 0 protein, 0 cholestrol, 0 of EVERYTHING, except sodium! It has about 260 mg in 2 Tbsps of it.  It has nothing except sodium?

What would you say about using this on ur salads, is it not healthy even though it has ZERO calories because of the high amount of Sodium? I know too much sodium is bad.  You can't gain weight from using this consistently can you, it has no cals?

What would you say about use this dressing, does the high levels of sodium off set how good it is for u? Would it be better to consume dressing with less sodium and lets say more carbs/sugar? No of course not!

any feedback is great thanks!

As long as you're under the 2400 mg of sodium/day in your intake it shouldn't be to unhealthy for you.
The fats in dressings are what help you process the nutrients in salads...

Without fats, your body cannot process Vitamins A, D, E and K
really? so it would be bad to use this "calorie free" dressing

what about vinegar or lemon juice instead?
i think its fine.  just as long as u dont have the whole bottle in one setting lol thats way too much sodium
lol Vinegar and Lemon Juice both have no fats in them either...

Try Olive Oil & Vinegar or a Low-Fat organic dressing...
It would not be bad but your body needs a certain amount of fat each day just to create different hormones.  Usually the healthiest way to get this fat is putting some olive oil on a salad or mabye some homemade dressing.  Much healthier overall then eating 70% lean beef or butter.

With salad dressing you just have to be careful like anything, most add lots of stuff in it that you really do not need like high fructose corn syrup and sodium.

My favorite dressing is just a tsp or 2 of good EV Olive Oil, adds a great taste to salad and has tons of healthy unsaturated fats.  Just have to be careful as with any fats, be sure to measure or may accidentally add a few tbsps instead and wonder what happened on the scale later.
