fat fustration
Does anybody else have days where you feel like your sooo fat even though you are losing weight, and it gets you soo depressed? If so what do you do to snap out of it??
We all may have momentary setbacks. A vacation, a special celebration, a business trip....all may take us away from our normal routine for a short while. We may fall off track.
In order to snap yourself out of it and get back on the right road, you may want to revisit your goals. Why do you want to lose weight? Have you written your goals down? Are you doing everything you can to achieve your goals? Are you exercising, drinking water, watching what you eat, watching the salt shaker?
Remind yourself of what you want. Immerse yourself in it 100% Write about it, and most importantly believe it.
Aw- I used to have a lot of those days, ugh! I just had to keep thinking positive and tell myself that this is a long process, not overnight and I WILL get to my goal no matter what. It's hard but it is do-able.
Sometimes I go for a walk to try to shake off the thoughts. Do you have any "mantras" or motto? The one I felt was more helpful -
"The pain of discipline is less than the pain of regret."
Cheer up, sweetie! You will get there!
'Feeling fat' is just another way of saying 'feeling down' or 'feeling sorry for yourself'... has nothing to do with body-size really.
How you get out of it depends on the individual. I rarely feel depressed about anything, to be honest, but I feel more positive about life in general if I'm eating healthily and getting exercise. Beyond that, I do things like wearing my most flattering clothes and paying more attention to my appearance (hair, make-up etc.) ...
I have those days fairly often. It feels like I'll never get to the place I want to be because that place is buried under so much fat.
But you will get there. We all will. It's a matter of patience. And knowing that you are worth the struggle. It also helps to know how strong you are and how far you've come. I would try on an old pair of pants or something, just to see how they fit now. :)
We all have those days! Don't let it get to you too much ![]()
I agree that it is just feeling down and not necessarily about body size. I lost a lot of weight over the past couple of years. I am into about 4 months of successful maintanence. At 43, I weigh about what I did in high school and I still have those days where I feel like a slug. Especially if I eat a little more than I should.....the bad thing is that my overeating days now are about half what I would eat in a day before...
I know what you mean! To cheer up I'll some times go back and look at my weight entries to see how much I've lost over time, or I'll check my measurments to see how many inches I've lost. Anything to remind myself that it seems like slow going but at least it's going.
Other than that, the important thing is to not give up! Just keep exercising and eating healthy and you'll cheer up again.
I have been feeling like this all day. I still have almost 90lbs or so to go. Some days Im very proud of my weight loss and like the changes in my appearance, other times I feel like I will never get to my goal weight. But the most important thing is I havent wanted to 'give in' this time and go back to my old ways. I feel so much better in general and I know my health has improved ten-fold since eating better and exercising . Knowing that I can lose weight and doing so is motivation in itself to keep going for me.
