I am 33 years old and just joined this website. I am a firefighter/paramedic and have slacked off on the physical training needed for my job. I desperately need all the encouragement I can get to stay motivated as I am very easily distracted. Expecially since it is summer time! I need to lose about 50 lbs ASAP!
Let me know how everyone likes this website and if it really works. I have tried just about everything else with no luck.

Welcome! This website works great! Weight loss is a mathematical equation. A 3500 calorie deficit = a 1 pound weight loss. It's as simple as that. Cut your calories and exercise more...you will lost weight. Good luck!
Welcome. I like CC and think it works well. Making it happen is up to each person. But if you want to keep track of your calories and exercise and want tips and discussion about weight this is a good site.
People here will tell you to shoot for a 500 to 1000 calorie per day deficit which would help you to lose between one and two pounds per week. Find what works for you and stick to it, and you should be able to make a major dent in your intended weight loss this year. I know 2008 has been good to me in this regard.
