I am a 13 year old girl who is 5'3" and 96 pounds. I eat a healthy diet and walk several 30 minute sessions a day because I can't walk really fast. I play soccer and run whenever the weather is nice. My problem is that I think I have a lot of fat. My skin is stretchy in a lot of places, like the back of my arm and my inner thighs. The skin on my arms isn't fat (I think) but I know my thighs have fat. Whenever I try to see if I have alot of muscle I always feel a bit of fat. But my thighs jiggle and I just feel like I am fat. Please help.
Answer
Your weight is in the healthy range for a girl of your age and height. Skin is supposed to be stretchy and thighs of fit people jiggle a bit. Do not inspect your body before the mirror or pinch it constantly check your size. Talk to your doctor or another trusted adult about your fears. Please read about teens and body image to understand your thoughts and behaviors. Body image is about self-esteem and not about your body. In addition, be careful of images you see in the media on TV and in magazines because images are altered and so they are not as they appear.
