Always watch the labels when it says "fat free" that's a sure sign there is a higher sugar content.  Sugar free means that an artificial sweetner has been added (which I am opposed to).

Try for organic lowfat or nonfat yogurt by Stoneyfield.  It's very good. :)  I usually by the vanilla and add my own fruit.

I agree with cweadock. When they say sugar free, they mean artificial sugar substitute. And there's nothing wrong with little fat from yogurt since you do need fat in your diet.

And I also recommend the same one, vanilla yogurt from stoneyfield.

Though i personally do like the sugar free yoplaits, if you want to stay away from artificial sweetners, try Oikos plain greek yogurt. It actually has more protein and less calories than non fat or artifical sweetened yogurts.

i avoid artificial sweeteners as well. i find a good solution is to buy the nonsugar type and then add 1 tbsp of a fruit preserve that also contains no added sugar (these are harder to find)

The one with fewer calories is better for losing weight, but the one with fewer ingredients is better for you.

^This. Go sugar-free if it is also free of artificial sweeteners. I like full-fat plain yoghurt. Fat is important, so I'm not a fan of fat-free products. But then I'm not a fan of artificial sweeteners either.

So pick the most natural product you can find.

My preference is Plain, Low-Fat or Skim Milk, Yogurt. I avoid artificial sweeteners. Something just doesn't sit right with me about chemical subtitutes.

Besides, you NEED some fat in your diet and some sugar too. Your body requires them to get by. So long as you keep counting your calories and make sure your daily meals are balanced, you'll be just fine.

As an additional bonus, it is SO much cheaper to buy plain ole' yogurt by the tub than to by the individual, fancy cups. I've added fresh fruit to my yogurt or even my chocolate whey protein in a creamy smoothie!

I am with the natural camp.  I buy Brown Cow whole milk plain yogurt in a big tub.  I add my own fruit (peaches are just getting ripe in my garden!) or cucumber (delicious) or, in the winter, homemade jam or marmalade, or maple syrup, or honey.

Go low fat plain, add stevia and your own fruit.  Artificial sweeteners aren't good for you.  I add some blueberries, strawberries and canned 100% juice pineapple bits, a pack of stevia for sweetening and its delicious.  I do the same with cream cheese - get the 1/3 less fat, add some pineapple or just almond slivers and cinnamon with stevia and spread that on toasted english muffins.  Much healthier.

I wish there was "sweet-free" food :) I always look for food with as little sugar och sweetener as possible, but there's always too much... and I always end up getting plain yogurt instead.

I like the fat free ones.  Not the "98 percent" ones, which have 70 more calories for some reason.  I just can't justify having so many calories when I can't taste any difference.  I'd rather get my fat from almonds or avocados.  I usually get the 50 calorie breyers yogurt.

i found a yogurt thats fat free, has like 4 grams of sugar or w/e and 3 grams of protein and 50 calories. its called fiber one yogurt and taste pretty good

Thank you so much for the input on this, guys...it was very useful, unfortunately I do not have a lot organic yogurt types to chose at my region..so...I guess I'll go for the reduced fat/non fat yogurt with sugar...still trying to figure out which one has fewer calories though..

It's impossible to really make a generalisation about which yoghurts (fat free or sugar free) will have the lower calories, because each brand is likely to be a little different. Just check the nutrition info on the back of a few cartons when you next go grocery shopping.

I like Brown Cow and Stonyfield.  Both are organic and have no artificial sweeteners.  They have non-fat and low-fat options.  If you're low on fats I'd go with the lowfat/plain yogurts.

I agree, brown cow makes the BEST yogurt ever, even the nonfat versions are very creamy and delicious. The nice thing about plain yogurt is its versatility, it can be eaten sweet, or as a seasoning on meats and falafel, with oatmeal, with cereal, so many options...
