fat wont come off my HIPS..

Quote  |  Reply

I lost 5 inches off my waist and only 1 1/2 off my hips..Undecided and about 1 inch everywhere else. My fat looks evenly spread out. I can hide it well but have tons around my hips down. Why is that the hardest place to come off? Is it also possible to loose tons of weight but no fat? lol My friends mother told me that I could loose 50 if I wanted to and it could be all water and no fat? Is that truly possible? I lost 20 so far.

I guess you could lose a lot of muscle. From what I understand, if you're not taking in enough carbs your body will hunt down the protein (aka muscle) first before even touching the fat stores. I swear it's like a rebellious teenager!

About the hips, I have that same issue. It's frustrating. It's probably hard for us women to lose fat in that area because we're built to have "childbearing" hips. LOL

Your body either loses muscle, fat or water. I have problems losing excess junk on my hips too. =_=

well  the truth is you can't spot reduce. People lose weight in all different places first and all different places last. If you continue to lose weight and tone you will eventually lose it off your hips it just won't come off overnight.

Look at your mother or sisters or any other female members of your family...   What shape are they?   Pear-shaped?   If you're genetically predisposed to store extra weight around the hips and thighs, that's where it'll go first and come off last  Unfortunate but true.   Keep smiling... and well done for losing 20lbs.

I agree with gi-jane: look at/ask the other female members of your family and I bet they are the same shape as you/have the same issue (or blessing, depending on how they look at it). The women in my family, great-grandmother on down to me, all have this same shape. I know it's from my mother's mother's mother's (whew!) side of the family, as my great grandmother, grandmother and her twin sisters, my mother and myself all have wide hips. You're just genentically predisposed to having wide child bearing hips! Embrace them - trust me, it's much better than hating them!

Congratulations on the 20lbs! Cool
