Favorite Chocolate?

Quote  |  Reply

I'm not a sweets eater, but love dark chocolate every once in a while for a little treat.  Two squares are plenty for me and I don't have to feel guilty.  I was wondering what are YOUR favorite brands of dark chocolate?  Dark only, please. I don't eat milk choc.  Thanks for sharing.

I love Green & Black's, and Cote d'Or Noir.  I also recently got some dark Ghirardelli 72% (Twilight Delight) as a gift, and really enjoyed it.

I've never been much of a chocolate person and usually always opted for Vanilla. (How odd for a woman!)

However, when it came to candy bars I never really went for anything unless it was coated with peanut butter. (ala Reese's!) or caramel and peanuts (Snickers or Twix with the crunchy cookie. Ha Ha.) BUT, as I got older I appreciated chocolate a lot more, Dark instantly became a fav. of mine. When I was younger the taste was too bitter, but I guess call it maturity, but I really savor the taste of it now. Ok, cutting the "Reader's Digest," version of your question...Ha Ha...

I would say my fav. dark chocolate is Lindht (sp?) or Ghirardelli 72 percent chocolate. I also sometimes go for Hershey's Sugar Free special dark chocolate if I want to indulge just a tad bit more (have to be careful of that laxative effect though. Lmao.) the last one probably isn't that potent as the first two mention, but it gives you that special taste that only dark chocolate can give and I'm sure has some of the same benefits.

:)

Godiva.

i love revels, munchies, fudge bars , i really like quality streets but not the creams, in our house the caramel pennys always get left think its because people cant be bothered to eat them :) im feeling hungry now

I've come here to sing the praises of Lindt dark chocolate bars.

A lot of people on CC seem to like Lindt, and I always read it and dismissed it, because as a chocolate snob, I was really skeptical that a good chocolate brand would be available at your local supermarket. However, Lindt seriously has good dark chocolate-- the pure bars, not the truffles, etc. available at the supermarket.

It's really the best! It's very smooth, deep, and pure tasting with a delicious vanilla flavor. I eat the 90%, and it is not bitter at all. It barely has any sugar in it, but it tastes really rich and subtly sweet. Even the 99% bars I've tried, still not bitter. But those are not as smooth tasting, kind of brittle and hard.
