Favorite Christmas Special or Movie?
What's your absolute favorite Christmas TV special or movie?
Mine's probably Little Drummer Boy, followed by Rudolph.
Here's a good site for being reminded of some good (and sometimes obscure) ones. And of course you can buy them if you want - http://www.tvparty.com/dvdxmas.html
You'll shoot your eye out!
Yeah. I like A Christmas Story>
Home Alone!
I don't know if it's considered xmas, but it always comes on for xmas time.
That and The Santa Clause - Gotta love Tim Allen.
I always liked Scrooged with Bill Murray.
Rudolph
Frosty
Little Drummer Boy
The Grinch (animated)
Life and Adventures of Santa
White Christmas
Christmas Story
Sants Claus
I don't know if this counts, but Love Actually.
What a great movie :)
"The Homecoming" (A Walton's TV movie)
"A Christmas Story" - fa ra ra ra ra....
"A Charlie Brown Christmas"
"How the Grinch Stole Christmas" (animated - definitely)
And recently I added "A Colbert Christmas - The Greatest Gift of All" ![]()
'Prancer' anybody??!?!
We watch 'A Christmas Story' all day on TBS on christmas. It just stays on and loops. It's pretty funny. No one changes it.
Oh, I love a Charlie Brown Christmas!!
Black Christmas - the original version. "If this movie doesn't make your skin crawl... then it's on too tight!"
Original Post by splitrail:Yeah I checked it out cuz' it was John Waters favorite holiday film. Wasn't disappointed. Also the Nightmare Before Christmas, and a Christmas Story, which is not dark but it's funny anyway.Black Christmas - the original version. "If this movie doesn't make your skin crawl... then it's on too tight!"
Also Gremlins. Trust me, it's much darker than you remember it, especially the story about Phoebe Cates finding her father's rotted corpse dressed as Santa in the chimney.
One that I haven't seen mentioned...National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation!
oohhhh! Gremlins! I LOVED that movie - forgot it was set at Christmas - gotta Netflix it!
A Christmas Carol (with George C. Scott)
Elf (Will Farrell)
It's a Wonderful Life
Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer (love the misfit toys)
Home Alone
The Homecoming
Everyone pretty much already mentioned my favs. "The Little Drummer Boy," was a good movie..but it's not a fav. I also found it so sad!
My mom's favorite is "The Grinch," the animated version she has to watch it every year.
For me:
"A Christmas Story"
"The Nightmare Before Christmas"
"Gremlins"
"Babes in Toyland" (The one with Drew Barrymore. Well it use to be when I was a kid. :P)
I can't think of the name of it...but I use to watch it a lot as a kid...it dealt with a family that seemed to be going through hard times. The mother didn't believe in Santa Clause and it was putting a damper on the little girl's spirits and things got worse when the father in the family was shot down and killed I think in a bank..Anyone know the name of this one?
"Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer."
"Prancer," was also one I used to watch A LOT as a kid.
"The Santa Clause"
All I can think of right now.
EDIT: I totally forgot "Scrooged!" That is an awesome movie. Oh, and "A Muppet Christmas Carol." :P
I love "Olive, the Other Reindeer" - it's a cute little movie.
Home Alone 2! i love the first home alone, but for some reason i like 2 better.
Love Actually is one of my favorite movies of all time, but especially around Christmas. i might even watch that tonight!
it's a wonderful life is great, so is Muppet Christmas Carol :)
Nevermind. I found the name of the movie I used to love as a kid that I couldn't think of the name..It's "One Magic Christmas."

I like two oldies:
Miracle on 34th street-1947
It's a wonderful life
Don't forget....A Christmas Carol with Albert Finney ![]()
"A Christmas Story"... hands down.
Yes, "A Christmas Story" definitely takes the number one spot for me.
Others:
-The Grinch (animated)
-A Charlie Brown Christmas
-Christmas Every Day <-the best incredibly lame Christmas movie EVER.
-A Diva's Christmas Carol...lmao.
Charlie Brown Christmas... yes I know... I am 49. Time to grow up but it just brings out some very happy memories. Merry Christmas Charlie Brown!
