Favorite Christmas Special or Movie?

Quote  |  Reply

What's your absolute favorite Christmas TV special or movie?

Mine's probably Little Drummer Boy, followed by Rudolph.

Here's a good site for being reminded of some good (and sometimes obscure) ones.   And of course you can buy them if you want - http://www.tvparty.com/dvdxmas.html

I wonder what happened when the old school cheer was actually new school...

it was all good, burger king. when old school cheer was new school, it was still pure cheer. today's cheer has been replaced by a veneer of false cheer, hiding box office receipts. new school cheer is a slut.

A good Christmas movie I haven't seen listed yet is "Jack Frost" with Michael Keaton.

Heh, I'll take the original version where the snowman was a serial killer...not sure what prompted them to remake it into a heartwarming(uck!) family film!

Well now I'm confused. You don't think "It's A Wonderful Life" or "Miracle On 34th Street" were made by the studios for profit as well?

yeah, but i choose to ignore that.

Heh.  I like your style, Dalmalama.

I don't know if this counts, but Love Actually.

What a great movie :)

Ditto!!!!!  :oDD  So funny!  So cute!

"There was more than one lobster present at the birth of Jesus?"

"It's a Wonderful Life".  I've watched it in July before when I was having a pity party for myself because life was sucking hind tit at the moment.

Charlie Brown Christmas

just got the dvd (used to have the vhs)

and also have the cd of the music

Love. It.

Other movies are good too.

But A Charlie Brown Christmas warms the cockles of my heart.

thanx, bk!

Am I the only one who likes A Christmas Carol with George C. Scott?

Love it. It's by far the best version of A Christmas Carol. I have it saved on my DVR :) My second favorite version is Mickey Mouse's Christmas Carol.

I love, love, love It's a Wonderful Life, Scrooged and Miracle on 34th Street. "Why we'd loooooove to have Santy Claus come and stay with us!"

My favorite Christmas movie is Holiday Inn with Fred Astaire, Bing Crosby and Marjorie Reynolds. Technically, it's not a Christmas move but that's when I always watch it.

I do love all the kids Christmas movies: Rudolph, Frosty, Charlie Brown, Prancer, The Grinch (animated). Having kids has renewed my interest in these movies.

Nightmare Before Christmas.

that one w/ the misfit toys and the cold miser...wait, same as #4. then that one w/ santa's origin story. all the 60s/70s holiday claymation specials, really. especially if they're musicals!

The one with the cold miser and Santa's origin story is Here Comes Santa Claus.

The Nightmare Before Christmas

Elf

& this version of A Christmas Carol that we had on a VCR tape that I used to watch every Christmas as a kid... We lost the tape and I haven't been able to find the right version since. :/

White Christmas! or Meet Me in St. Louis! My mom and I watch both of them every year.

Definitely Rudolph!  I want to be a dentist!

I love Blackadder's Christmas Carol.  I watch it every year on Christmas eve.

"Greetings of the season to you, Blackadder. May the Yule log slip from your fire and burn your house down."

A Christmas Story! Show mommy how the piggies eat! Ohhhh fuddddgggggeeeeee!

The Grinch.

The Santa Clause.

Charlie Brown Christmas.

Jack Frost is also very cute too.

A Christmas Story fo sho.

Miracle on 34th Street.

I gotta go with the classics on this one... White Christmas, The Original Miracle on 34th Street, ( before ted turner screwed it up) and one of the funniest is Christmas Vacation... I watch that every year and still laugh my butt off...

( edited.. added this)- Oh gezz how could I forget also, Christmas in Conneticut w/barbra stanwick and Holiday INN... I love em all I guess.... it is hard just to pick one tho...

Merry Christmas Everyone!!!!!!
