Favorite clean eating meals or snacks

Quote  |  Reply

Sometimes I just run out of ideas on what to eat - certainly I incorporate variety into my diet, but it can be easy to get into a rut, especially when there isn't much time to just sit and plan menus.

So...what do y'all eat that's clean?

Tonight, for example, I had some bulgar, salmon with a little fat-free mayo mixed with horseradish and dill on top, and some roasted asparagus and squash with an evoo/shallot dressing on it.  Pretty clean, though I discovered that squash soaks up oil in a sort of unpleasant way (but it's all healthy fat, right?).

Maybe we can just list a bunch and keep adding as we find good combinations, and then this can serve as a quick reference for people in a pinch.

Snack: cottage cheese and grapes (or cottage cheese with just a little honey mixed in)

6 oz. fat free Greek yogurt;

1/3 cup ricotta cheese (part skim)

2 T. raisins

2 T. walnuts

Mix well and enjoy.  Delicious!

Oooo, that sounds good, I'll have to give it a try!  Right now my snacks are protein shakes with 1/2 banana or yogurt.  Not very original, but I'm on a diet right now provided by my trainer so it's kind of boring.

I'm a vegan so pretty much everything I eat is clean by coincidence, unless I seek out "unclean" foods. Plus I'm a foodie, so I could go on and on.

For example, last nights dinner:

Onions, garlic and summer squash from the garden sauteed with shitake mushrooms and vegan grain-based(not processed gross soy) apple-sage sausage, all cooked in with quinoa, sage and thyme and topped with freshly picked chopped apples. Super yum.

I do a lot of rice protein shakes with a handful of walnuts, pumpkin seeds and cranberries or raisins as my after workout snack. I'm also an oatmeal fiend- I have it every single morning- which I do with flaxseed, chopped fruit, cinnamon and a little maple extract so that I don't have to add extra sugar.

Also yummy are brown rice cakes topped with hummus and veg and grain-based veggie deli slices.

If you eat meat, here is a good clean foods list:
