your favorite exercise DVD?
I bought a bike 3 weeks ago & have been riding it daily ever since. But now it is getting so hot that just walking from the door to my bike, i feel like passing out!!! (I live in Louisiana- it's 92 degrees today but it feels even hotter! LOL.)
Anyway- just wondering if any of you have any good cardio dvd recommendations... for beginners, now!
Reason: Moved from Weight Loss to Fitness forum, thanks.
When I first started working out I used the Windsor Pilates DVD's and got pretty good results, it was challenging but not impossible as long as you don't have any physical conditions that would limit your ability to stretch. I have now upgraded to Turbo Jam and I LOVE it!
Good luck in your search.
I love Turbo Jam, Slim in 6 or any of the biggest loser workouts.
Any Tae Bo DVD is great. They really push me. I just bought the Tae Bo Amped and am itching to try it.
i feel your pain with the whole biking thing. i LOVE to bike but i live in the devils buttcrack, the valley therefore it gets up to around 105 on the hot days. on top of that the air quality is CRAP and i feel like an asthmatic when i bike. anyways i usually bike at night time to remedy the heat ( with lights of course) maybe you should try to enjoy some nightime rides
Thanks, y'all! i will definitely try what you have suggested!!
& darklylinky, you're right- i went later today & it wasn't near as bad as it's been today. :)
Cardioke!!
Supposedely singing while working out helps stamina, so I like to do this when I'm sore but still want a workout, since it's a bit easier on the muscles.
If you have comcast, it's free On Demand
I love yoga, butty, ballet. The beginner part of it is really nice. You have 5 sections in this but I do not participate in the 3rd one because right now I cannot make my body go that way
LOL! but all the other sections give you a great body workout. Get the pick & orange dvd you will be surprised how great it is to follow when you are 200+ lbs.
Good luck!
ooh, thanks, teteagle! i am 279. oops, 273.5 now. haha. Anyway- this is only my second week. :) i will look for that one!!
Go-Go Robics and Go-Go Robics II with the Pontani Sisters. Those vintage 60s moves are great cardio! Plus, the sisters are totally pin-up girl style lookers wearing kitschy costumes while they teach the moves, which is a hoot. You'll have so much fun you'll forget it's exercise!
i dont have a fave dvd but my favorite instructor would have to be cathe friedrich - i have a bunch of her dvds - cardio, weights, circuit, i do her workouts pretty religously - shes such a nazi but definitely effective
Jillian Micheals...
30 Day Shred & No more Trouble Zones
thanks everyone!
i actually wrote all these down & went to target last night but they didn't have many. they did have the biggest loser ones & i ended up getting the "cardio max". About to do it now. Hope it doesn't kill me. ;)

I was curious about the yoga-booty-ballet -----> glad to see someone give it a positive rating - maybe i'll give it a shot!
i really wanted to try this one too! they didn't have it at target, but i'll get it eventually!
just did the cardio workout from the biggest loser. level one is bob, which is the one i did. jillian & kim are in it too. i saw the jillian michaels dvd's too, i'll have to try those!
Amen to all the Jillian fans out there!
'No more trouble zones' followed by a mix of levels of '30 day shred' feels good!
Plank Rows are awesome!Check those out in the No More Trouble Zones, makes you feel like a marine! Yes Sir.
Only slight thing is, I never feel fully cardio-ed out with Jillian's dvds, so you might want the Tae Bo to help with that, but go Jillian!
Oh, when I first saw the title of the thread I was thinking, I'll put Cardio Max down! (I so love that video! I used my HRM while doing the level 1 workout and it says I burned 338 calories in that 30 minutes! Nice!!)
I also have Kickbox bootcamp---LOVE IT! And, 30 day shred. You'll get tore up with that one!
Is jump roping as good an exercise as running?
In terms of calorie burning, moderate jumping is about equal to running a 10-minute mile, although calorie burning is always a function of time... Read more
