Favorite Fictional President?
Well, we're in peak political season, but I thought it might be fun to look at a different angle. I didnt' find another thread on it so...
Who is your favorite fictional president / actor who played a fictional pres?
Lloyd Bridges, Micheal Douglas, Morgan Freeman, Harrison Ford, Bill Pullman, Martin Sheen, Geena Davis... There are a lot to choose from....
I have a soft spot for Martin Sheen / Pres. Bartlett because I really liked the show.
I loved Harrison Ford in Air Force One as President James Marshall. I love action movies and I like most of Harrison Ford's movies. This movie had me on the edge of the seat. You couldn't help but cheer and the ending was very exciting.
i also like Billy Bob Thorton as the president in Love Actually, just because he was such a stereotype and it was funny.
I liked Bill Pullman and the guy in the Fifth Element :)
Morgan Freeman! Deep Impact I think.. The movie was kinda blah, but he was a phenomenal president in it! (I like him as God too :)

Same. Martin Sheen gets my vote.
I also have to vote for Bill Pullman as Thomas Whitmore in Independence Day. That movie was awesome.
"I'm sorry, too, Dmitri. ... I'm very sorry. ... All right, you're sorrier than I am, but I am as sorry as well. ... I am as sorry as you are, Dmitri! Don't say that you're more sorry than I am, because I'm capable of being just as sorry as you are. ... So we're both sorry, all right?! ... All right." (Dialog improvised by Sellers)
President Thomas "Tug" Benson in Hot Shots! Part Deux, played by Lloyd Bridges.

A fitting Onion article.
I actually like President Lindberg in The Fifth Element.
Was it Michael Douglas the played the President in "The American President"? I loved that movie, as I'm a sap sometimes.
I also loved Harrison Ford in Air Force One and I especially loved Bill Pullman in Independence Day.
There's probably more somewhere in the back of my brain, but I don't feel like fishing right now. =)
Harrison Ford was most memorable to me

Aaaah - I love Harrisson Ford too - my personal all time standard for sexy male movie stars.
What was the name of the show that had Gena Davis as Prez?
What happened to that show? Was it written to test the waters for a woman pres / vice pres? If so, then I think Glenn Close was OK as vice pres. in Air Force One.
Kevin Kline in Dave, any one?
But I think Bartlett will probably always have my vote, with Michael Douglas coming close second.
There was a Prairie Home Companion where they had Martin Sheen receiving a phone call from Bush. Bush wanted to know how Bartlett made sure he had a good legacy, after leaving office. Sheen kept saying, "You know, Mr. President... I wasn't really the president - it was a TV show." Bush would reply, "Right, right, I know that, Pres. Bartlett."
I agree! I love the movie AND the character :)

"Commander in Chief", in which she played President Mackenzie Allen.
It did well for a couple of seasons, and Davis even won a Golden Globe for it, but the writers apparently couldn't decide if they wanted the female pres to be a bad @ass or a motherly figure, or put all the time on her job, or whether to include family melodramas as part of the plot line, that the show kind of lost its footing and the viewers promptly followed.
It was a shame - I was starting to really like it at the time.
#18 - Yeah, he really brought that character to life. It was so cool when he fired his advisor and then flew with the mission to take down the alien ship.
