What are your favorite fitness/advice/information sites?
I need new reading material, lol.
especially their exercise and muscle directory
awesome, thanks. leigh peele and stumptuous are some of my favorites already, glad to see other people read them too!
I like exrx for the detail they give on which muscles are being worked in each exercise.
I frequent this site daily (new articles every day):
http://www.tmuscle.com/index.jsp
The version for females has been maybe 1 article a week:
http://figureathlete.tmuscle.com/
The business model is to give out lots of good information free and sell supplements. Seems to be working.
I've heard people talk about Eric Cressey's blog, but don't personally read it. I hear it gets kinda techy.
Skwigg's world http://skwigg.tripod.com/blog/
Josh Hillis http://joshsgarage.typepad.com/articles/
Mark's daily apple http://www.marksdailyapple.com/
Brad Pilon http://bradpilon.com/
Black Book fitness http://fitnessblackbook.com/
and Fit sugar http://www.fitsugar.com/
skwigg is reasonable, Fitness black book will make you dumber from reading it. Brad Pilon has an odd relationship with food and sometimes stops eating - he calls it "intermittent fasting".
Mark's daily apple is great, though he overstates the case sometimes the whole 'primal blueprint' is an interesting reality filter to look through from time to time.
Fitsugar is part of the Pink Dumbbell Brigade and reading it will lower your fitness IQ by 50 points - I could feel my IQ dropping precipitously while they were busy insulting my intelligence with their blather about yoga and "toning".
Exrx.net is on my "required reading" list, t-nation you need to approach with some caution as the quality of the articles they run vary wildly - trust Cressey, Robertson, Boyle, Tate, Thibs, Gentilcore and Jimmy smith of Diesel crew, be way of Jimmy Smith from jimmysmithtrain as I've seen nothing from him that convinces me that he's any more competent than Tracey Anderson is.
Leigh is great - though she's guilty of a few dumb mistakes she's generally owned up to it when she's violated the "gravity points down" principle of exercise :-P
