LOCKED TOPIC

Favorite Food for Bingin'

Blach - I just ate a WHOLE far of pickles following my tomato soup and grilled cheese dinner.

Argh.  Ever since I was a little kid, I've had this affinity for pickles!  Now I feel sick to my stomach.

Haha, anyone else ever do this kind of thing?

I'm also this way with celery and tomatoes.

I just can't get enough of 'em!

I have low blood pressure, so I guess the sodium is good for me.

i have a binge-eating problem, but i wasn't offended by this thread at all. the thing is that, binging exists, anorexia exists, and it's just reality that some people who binge are going to have favorite foods to binge on. why get offended over a post that is honestly just reality?

Oxy why not just change the name of the thread to favorite food for overindulging?

(there will be less complaints and people offended.)

oxy: I have no idea what you felt you were accomplishing by reminding me that you were a recovering anorexic, since I'd mentioned that you were in my original post that you quoted.

And no, everyone does not 'binge' once in a while, people overeat or overindulge but bingeing is much more emotional and devastating than that. If you'd titled it pickles or favorite food for indulging then it would have been fine. But you didn't, and I'm not going to 'get over it' seeing as you so rudely responded to me.

hm... over the summer i really liked..

granola (the quaker breakfast cereal kind)

Kettle chips ( I had one of those huge costco bags)

now its going more towards sweets =\

Do you say this only in the context of eating or of binging in general?

People with zero eating disorders can experience occasional binges. You don't have to have some sort of cataclysmic devastating emotional uncontrolled event to keep eating and eating even though you know you should stop.

I kind of agree with laren99 because

the words "favorite" and "binging" should not be used in the same sentence.

I think the only problem here was the title of the post. "Foods for Binging" might have been better?

I'm not going to reply to the op because I don't consider binging a fun activity nor one that I have "favorite foods" for.

peace.

Just for the sake of being an ass, what about "Favourite ways to avoid binging"? =)

But I agree with Tothestar. Maybe you should just change the title of the topic and people'll be a little less edgy.

I so agree with what you said!

As a matter of fact, I'm a recovering anorexic.  :D

Binge is a verb; not a syndrome.

Get over it.  Everyone binges sometimes.  That doesn't make everyone disorderly.

the way you talk about being a recovering anorexic seems a bit arrogant, no? as if you're bragging to make yourself seemed "experienced."

don't be so flippant about eating disorders, it can be hurtful to others. period.

I can also binge my heart out on pickles. I actually ate five small Klaussen pickles in a row earlier, but I could eat an entire bottle if I wanted to. I don't really binge that often, I just over-all eat poorly, but when I do binge, these are the foods I love to binge on if they're available:

  • Pickles
  • Green olives
  • Sour Patch Kids, Skittles, Twizzlers, or Starburst
  • Tomatoes
  • Coarsely chopped celery and baby carrots
  • Ice cream
  • Grapes. Oh, god. Grapes.

Don't get me around a vegetable plate. I will eat the whole thing. My grandfather has this time lapse video of me from when I was about five years old. He set up a camera near the vegetable platter. You just see me going and getting some, running back, getting more. First the pickles disappeared, then the olives, then the tomatoes, the cauliflower, and everything else. It's his favorite video to show my friends. :\

I have to say, even bingeing on something healthy is bad. Eating a whole jar of pickles isn't healthy, and can make you feel like crap afterwards. Pardon me if I'm wrong, but the OP can feel sick to her stomach after eating a whole jar, not because "I ate too much food" but because "I ate too much of one thing."

Anyway, I am guilty of somethings eating a whole can of reddi whip. I've been eating granny smith apples like crazy for the past month; they're sooo good baked with some cinnamon! I used to eat tomato sauce with splenda like crazy, but haven't in quite awhile.

melba toast/ fresh bread with peanut butter and jam

any time of HOME MADE food / mostly lasagna and stuff like that

cereal

CRACKERS

chips

chocolate milk

ughh this list can go on forever....

i sort of just binged on rice cakes, although I only had like 300 calories worth so it's not a binge really, but it was after lunch so I'm really stuffed.

I could eat ice cream forever without getting full.  Although I get a little sick to my stomach afterwards, but man do i love ice cream! :)

And I love pickles too but I haven't ever had a whole jar.  I probably could
