What are your favorite foods to order online?

Quote  |  Reply

What are some of the foods that you like to order online, and where do you order them from?  Are they cheaper than if you bought it in a supermarket?  I ask because the other day I was looking online to order nuts on amazon, and wondered what other great products people tend to order off the same site/other sites.

I've only ordered groceries from Amazon, and sometimes their prices are cheaper than the supermarket, sometimes not.  I usually don't order online if I can get it cheaper at the supermarket.  I check Amazon's grocery section sales every month and usually with the sale I can get things cheaper.

I have bought:

Crystal Light and Lipton Tea "On the Go" packets

Cup-a-soup

Larabars

Orzo

Whole wheat pasta

Garden Harvest chips

Kashi cracker

Just make sure it's something you'll eat, because it's almost always a bulk pack.

When they're running a free shipping special, I like to order vitatop muffins. And yeah, they are cheaper that way than in a store, that is, if you're lucky enough to find a store that even carries them.

And every so often, again when there's a special, hubby and I like to get some nice lean steaks and chops from Ohama Steaks.  Until I found an Ohama Steaks store next to the nearest Trader Joe's, I didn't know I could get them outside of an internet/catalog order, so I don't know how they compare.

And that's about it.  I can find most everything else we need from Trader Joe's or our local supermarket.

I don't live that close to a Trader Joe's, so what kind of groceries would you recommend I get online that you normally get at Trader Joe's?

Actually, a lot of the stuff I get at Trader Joe's I can get at other supermarkets, it's just that either TJ a) makes it better or b) has a better price.  Also, most of what I like from TJs is frozen or perishable, so I doubt ordering something similar to be delivered would be all that cost efficient.

However, for the non-perishable things, I have a perference for:  whole wheat pita bread, quinoa, chicken broth, cuban style black beans, luna bars, tuna, roasted red peppers, sun dried tomatoes, vanilla extract, olives, pumpkin butter (in season), and coffee (but at TJ you have to grind it in the store).

I order all my grass-fed meats on line because I feel after reading there "about us" section along with all the other information provided about grass-fed animals, I can trust them. I do occasionally (when it's an emergency) but my grass-fed meats from The Vitamin Cottage or I will have Whole Foods Grind up some steaks for me but typically I just order it from my on-line supplier! I actually just got a box of frozen grass-fed bison, elk & beef = I trust this supplier to the utmost!!

Go to NorthStarBison.COM - they have very reasonable shipping costs as well!!

I also order fish from VitalChoiceSeafood.com when I am back at home in Wyoming because fish is not readily avaliable there - although now that I am back to school in Colorado I do not need to order from Vital Choice because Whole Foods takes care of ALL of my fish needs! (Along with all the sushi restaurants around here - ha ha!)

I also order flavored coffee & syrups & concentrates on line specifically from NUTS.COM or NATURESFLAVORS.COM --- I use the calorie-free flavor concentrates as a base for "ice cream" (which consists of the flavor concentrate, ice, water & stevia!! yummy!)

American Whey.  conditionnutrition.com

Quince butter/preserves from igourmet.  Oh so good.

1. Soy Beanits from amazon.com... haven't seen them in a store! And there's really nothing more satisfying than jalepeno-cheddar flavored soynuts.

2. Kind nut bars. Delicious, low gi, and a great way to boost calorie intake. In stores I've seen them for $2.00 a bar or higher. vitaminwarehouse.com has them 8 for $10.20.

Curry paste from amazon. Curry paste is so much better than the powder!

  • PB2 from bellplantation.com
  • soy bites from Crum Creek

PB2 :D

When dixiediner.com is having a sale, i order apple soy rocks. They are a really good snack, great amount of protein, fiber, and only 2g fat w/ 88 cals. They are definitely cheaper than buying them at a special health food store

I really like Western Bagel's Alternative pitas, bagels, and english muffins; Fiber Gourmet pasta; Vitamuffins; and Lightfull Smoothies. I order them online because they're not in most stores in my area (I think the bagels are only in CA), and the smoothies are a lot cheaper if you subscribe for them on Amazon (and they taste really good).
